Whisky Reviews for Glenfarclas 1980

  1. Andytka3 scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

N- Pleasantly complex combo of dried fruits and nutty notes of hawthorn, hazelnut and tropical fruits, all oozing out in a subtle and orderly manner. A hint of perfect oiliness that make it lightly 'dirty', balance with with herbs leafy fragrant. Full, round, well aged from a huge butt.

P- Melt in your mouth dried fruits mousse, sphere of wooden milk jar, non-sugar dark fruits jam, and nutty oak leads the palate to a great harmonize of natural flavours, gained after more than a quarter century of marriage of liquid and oak.

F- Long, solid and well integration of flavors, aged mellow texture, well manner. Soft coat of tannin and pepper at the tail.

    producer`s tasting notes:

    A light golden sheen.

The nose is fruity with some strong citrus scents emanating from the centre of the glass. After a while, a slight leathery aroma emerges.

It is a very sweet whisky. The texture is almost like a good butter shortbread - and it really does dissolve in your mouth.

It has an ample finish which produces a delightful coating on your tongue and throat.

    Bottled 2007.

Haven`t tried this vintage, however the Glenfarclas I have tasted have been very good. I know of a store in Canada that has a whole line of these for sale. Look up csnwine.com and ask about them. I think the whole collection was 75k us however that was then, maybe they are selling them off in verticals or pairs. Not sure but love the toffee and vanilla! Yummm
