This whisky is the best buy/price and still the 18 and 21years old must come to more age stats in 2019 and 2022 before they go to real age again.

I didn't like it as much initially, but it oxidises pretty well.

Currently about 2 months into the bottle, will give update once it peaks.
I prefer refill oak because I'm against deforestation!

Ik vind deze 2015 bottle toch minder vol dan die ik in 2013 had. Zeker de neus en finish zijn wat minder.

Color
Tawny
Nose

Orange, cherry, caramel, citrus, cinnamon, malt and a little hazelnut. Not quite as aromatic as earlier batches that I've tried, it has some trouble loosening up.

Taste

Orange, prune, pepper, caramel and cinnamon.

Finish

Orange, roasted chestnut, chocolate, cherry and caramel.

Comments

The theory is that the 2015 releases of the Revival are around 19 years old. But when I compared this one directly with versions from 2012, 2013 and 2014, I actually found this one the least impressive one, thinner in the mouth with a less dark profile. So even if the story about the age is true, there may be other factors making a difference: More refill rather than first fill? More Oloroso, less PX? It's still nice but it's not worth double the price of earlier batches, not at all.

Nose

A rich, layered, deep, busy and complex whisky with aroma’s of Oloroso sherry, Madeira, toffee, espresso, dark caramel, sultana’s, dried fruits (apricot, prunes, dates, figs, raisins, banana), soft sulphur, balsamic, maraschino, mocha, bitter chocolate, orange peel, backed apples, hint of mint, soft smoke, spicy oak, tannins, wax, rosewood, forest honey, assorted berries (blackberries, blueberries, elderberries), old rum, walnut liqueur, hint of hazelnut, cinnamon, white peper, stem ginger, allspice, set cloves and bitter orange marmalade.

Taste

A powerful, rich, deep, multi layered, exciting and complex whisky with aroma’s of rich & lush sherry, coffee, chocolate, dried fruits (prunes, figs, dates, raisins) backed banana, toffee, dark caramel, brown sugar, black pepper, lemon juice, orange liqueur, walnuts, hazelnuts, cinnamon, cloves, fennel seeds, grape seeds, macerated cherry’s, moss, fresh backed Victoria sponge, tannins, toasted oak, bees wax, polish, hint of sulfur, rosewood, soft hint of smoke, herbs (bouquet garni), scones and dry oak.

Finish

A long, rich and drying finish with aroma’s of sherry (of course), dark chocolate, spices, oak, tannins, grape seeds, mocha, red fruits, toffee, soft citrus tone, dried fruits and forest berry marmalade.

Comments
This is a big and busy dram. It’s well aged and has deep layers of complex flavours. There is a distinct sulfur tone though out the whisky but not overpowering anything, instead it add’s to the complexity of the experience. I’m happy that I have another closed bottle in stock as you need to have this in your glass once in a while just to remind you how good old fashioned whisky actually tastes.

Nose

Lots of dried fruits with figs, prunes and apricots. Some roasted peanuts and walnuts. Cloves and warm apple pie sprinkled with cinnamon.

Taste

Sweet and syrupy. Drying. Raisins, dark chocolate and black berries. Fairly spicy with cloves, ginger and black pepper.

Finish

Long and fairly sweet. Hint of smoke at the end.

Comments

Really, really good. And it used to be great value for money.

Amazing whisky! Superb оloroso  flavor, some chocolate and prunes.

Sweet taste, I feel braunis cake, prunes and apricots.
The finish is medium, spicy with a little white pepper.
This is not just whisky, this is whisky with style.
