Whisky Reviews for Kilchoman 2010

  1. Calmar scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Pleasant, powerful mole, not rich in shades and semitones, but alive and seething, snappy, well-balanced. RH here is more likely to pick up, creates a background for a young and unbridled Ailovtsa. Once again, I am convinced of the excellent level of Kilkhoman's drum releases.
    • Nose
Very intense, peat, ash, burnt paper, coal, juicy, tight.
    • Taste
Dense, saturated, burnt paper, creamy sweetness, butteriness, dried fruits, raisins, peat, coal.
    • Finish
Dense, oily, orange peel and grapefruit peel, oil cream, dry peat, charcoal.

    • Nose
Typical Kilchoman nose. Heavy, Lime, Apple, Peaty. I am not getting the PX out yet.
    • Taste
Salmiak profile (salt, bay leaf, light mint) combined with sherry sweetness: orange and apricot. Wow. Also very soft for age and CS.
    • Finish
Lang, peat and salmiak. Rubber (but tasty).

  5. Shane_IL scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

Bold, young and sticky dessert whisky. I really love the combination of PX and peat and this one was quite a good example, although I have tried another PX finished single cask bottling which I found quite a bit more complex than this.
