Very good Irish, with a nice peat / fruit balance on the nose.

Very nice nose with a dominant of yellow fruits, exotic, citrus, and a nice balance of ash and light peat.
Apricot, peach, mango, pineapple, green banana, grapefruit.
Light medicinal with camphor and Listerine.
      Light liquorice root, milk chocolate.
    • Taste
      90 90
In the mouth, peat takes over. We still have camphor, medicinal.
A big dose of anise and licorice.
The wood is also more present, and it is accompanied by a lot of spices.
The fruit is set back, but present. Mango, orange, lemon.
Fresh mint and eucalyptus: it's fresh.
    • Finish
      91 91
Long finish on milk chocolate, orange candy, wood spices, cold ash.

Irish single malt 1991 – peated (52,2%, The Whisky Mercenary for Whiskysite.nl & Fisser 2015)

Nose: a very short peaty impression, but then wham! A whole truck of grapefruit is dropped in, both the yellow ones and the pink ones. Also passion fruit sherbet and kiwi, hints of green banana skin, peaches and white grapes. Some waxy / resinous notes. A little mint, vanilla and subtle camphor. Mouth: spearmint at first, which stays strong throughout the whole dram. Sweet banana underneath, as well as mango and apricots in syrup, but the peaty notes are slowly taking over. A little green tea with grapefruit and camphor again. Though not a peat bomb, it may be the peatiest of the 1991’s I’ve tried. Finish: long, showing mild chili, nutmeg and a bit of minty dryness.

It’s funny how this one changes from robust to elegant and back. I’ve tried it three times in different glasses. Sometimes I thought there was too much peat on the palate, but on other occasions it seemed just right. Some people think these Irish are too fruity – they should try this one. Excellent stuff. Around € 200, on sale this Saturday.

Some tropical fruits, pineapple, green banana, little leafy, little menthol, little citric, honeydew, spicy - not bad
    • Taste
      89 89
Little punchy, subtle sweetness, fruity, spicy, little herbal, little ginger, lemon peel
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium long, warm, spicy, zesty, little more punchy

Peated irish, not a fruit bomb though the tropical notes are still there along with grapefruit, very nice

Honey gold color. Fairly light nose, but pleasant for indie Irish of this era -- grass, stone fruits, light alcohol. A bit of cream and vanilla. Mouth is bigger and in the same vein. Lots of nice bitter touches then tons of peaches/nectarines. Pleasant head on the finish. One of the better ones, not really one that stands out in the flavors but really solid.

Beautiful nose. Loved how it evolves during the tasting, adding new layers. Palate is more simple but very good.

There's definitely some peat here and very discreet tropical notes in the background (or maybe I'm just influenced). Let's wait a few minutes. Peat smoke, medicinal and resinous notes. Let's wait more. The fruits are finally here. Grapefruits, kiwis, peaches, hints of passion fruits. Whiffs of saw dust. Mentholated notes. Tobacco.
    • Taste
      91 91
Earthy peat, mint and juicy fruits (peaches, passion fruits, green bananas, grapefruits).
    • Finish
      90 90
      Long, spicy, minty, drying.
