Absolutely delicious Glen Elgin and probably the best I have tried so far (admittedly, this is only my thirteenth). Used to be less than 70 EUR. If anyone knows where to buy this today, please get in touch. Thanks, Gert!
    • Nose
Well, the oranges on the nose arrive immediately, but it is nicely flanked by chamomile, apple sauce, honey and something close to, but not quite, Turkish Delight. Hint of litchi and freshly baked bread as well as some banana and pineapple. Then some cigar box. Cedar wood. Suddenly dried apricots arrive in full force. Well, this has suddenly turned into a small complex fruit bomb. Lovely!
    • Taste
Despite the high ABV, the arrival is mildly picquant, nicely waxy and immediately it offers an oaky spiciness next to the omnipresent fruit. Again pineapple, peach, apricots, but also lime and oranges. There is a lot going on here. The wood is more outspoken than on the nose. Honey softens the whole up.
    • Finish
The finish is wonderfully long, spicy and fruity sweet.

Lovely fruity and friendly Glen Elgin bottling. Highly recommendable.
    • Nose
Vanilla and polished oak, apple sauce, apricots, oranges, chamomile, honey.
    • Taste
Vanilla, apple sauce, pineapple, tinned peach, orange juice, barley sugar and gentle pepper.
    • Finish
Long, almost not bitter/tannic. Honeyed barley, cream, lemon sherbet and pepper.

    SMWS Tasting Notes
    Colour: Starfish gold
    Flavour: Sweet, fruity & mellow

Our noses found the immediate sweetness of syrup sponge,
toffee pennies, Turkish Delight and orange fondants, plus impressions of a
library (books, shelves, leather chairs, waste-paper baskets, cleaning
materials and coffee). The unreduced palate was also deliciously sweet
(marshmallows, honey, toffee) – but with dark chocolate, orange peel,
marmalade, peach cobbler and a good bit of wood. The reduced nose took us to an
orange grove and into a shop full of wooden toys. The palate was now tasty and
rewarding, with flavours of citric peel in a fruit cake and delightfully
expensive chocolates, rounding off with a satisfyingly warm glow.

Drinking tip: Slightly autumnal in feel – improves with a
drop of water and some time.
