    -Blindverkostung-
    Smells like a malt from Campbeltown, tastes like one from the Highlands. And it is: An Imperial from the Speyside.
    A real chameleon. And really good.

    • Nose
      90 90
      A mineral and earthy nose. Salt and pepper mixed with honey. Over time, bright fruits come towards apple. Something pear sauce. The spiciness is nice and intense, without becoming too dominant. Time and again, the mineral impression flashes on, like wet pebbles. Over time, a fine malt note and some cocoa powder. Remains long constant and consistently intense.

      Strong start with almonds, marzipan bread, caramel and oranges. Dry and with some wood from the beginning. Slightly peppery. Dark chocolate and a few mild herbs are added. The almonds and oranges are very present. (A lot) honey and vanilla. Cafe au lait. Yeast dough. On the tongue, the malt makes a "dense" impression, so the flavors are all pretty close to each other and do not fray. Unlike in the nose, I no longer have the mineral note on my tongue.

      Medium long, dry and spicy. Wood. Slightly peppery. Almonds and marzipan still. Bright fruits.

    The smell provides exactly what I expect from maturing in an ex-bourbon barrel. Add to that an exciting complexity.
    The taste continues this impression seamlessly.
    In the finish, the oak is a bit too dominant. This bothers the picture in so far as that the oak was so far no decisive note.

    Despite the somewhat inharmonious finish compared to the nose and mouth I like the whisky well and I drink it with much enjoyment.

      Cereals, citrus fruits, hay, caramel, grated sour apple, orange, wet earth, sawdust
    • Taste
      Medium body, strong onset, sweet and sour, orange, sugared lemon, cucumber salad with dill, with time come more and more grainy notes, burned sugar, slight bitterness, oak, malt
    • Finish
      strong oak, very tart light beer, the sweetness is almost completely gone, hops, a light lemony fruit acid remains, long

      Medium - long. A tad dry and bitter, in addition to the default fruityness in this dram. Still a bit waxy. Feels a bit more balanced on last few sips.

    Beautiful fruity whisky with strong oak note, delicious and very salivary, nice delicious filling, especially the memory is great and remains above all very long

    Notes created during a blind tasting
    • Nose
      Oily, solvents, vanilla, honey, strong malt, some menthol or is it smoke? Ripe bright fruits, a few pears and mirabelles and a touch of cowshed in the background and after a while, it also adds a mineral tone
    • Taste
      Williams Christ pears, beautifully ripe and juicy, then strong wood, honey, just a hint of vanilla and pepper, the menthol is in the background only very easy to remember, after some time comes even a waxy note and a little bit of mineral
    • Finish
      the pears are still present, as well as the strong woody note with only a few tannins, finally astringent and mineral

      Fruity, a lot of nuts, pears, crème brûlée or popcorn - peaches - nectarines - mango-kiwi - orange - tangerines and grated coconut.
    • Taste
      Alcohol well integrated, tart - fruity something like Haribo Goldbären and some plywood crackles on the tongue.
    • Finish
      medium

      The Bourbon Hogsheads ripening leaves much left of the distillery.
      No high-flyers, but worth a try.

    Unfortunately, the nose had noticeable flaws, the taste has got it out a bit, shows the typical Bourbon Imperial notes in good shape.

      Furniture polish, green apple, toffee and lemon peel, honey and white pepper, gum and fresh paint bucket, kiwi and papaya, a mixture of artificial and exotic, since the balance is missing a little
    • Taste
      Honey, Demerara sugar, kiwi and pineapple, lemon and lime, papaya and white pepper, camphor, light malt and salt
    • Finish
      Dry-exotic, malt, kiwi, pineapple, citrus and malt, young oak, medium-long
