Funny that these Straight From The Barrel Blanton's are meant for export overseas. So Americans have to buy them in Europe or Japan and ship them back again. In my view these are the best Blanton's around with of course differences between the several barrels.
    • Nose
Lots of juicy buttery oak intermingled with red fruit of strawberries and redcurrants. Caramelized oranges. Later on more on fresh cedar wood and apple-mint. Despite its huge alcohol % quite enjoyable in the nose with subtle spices.
    • Taste
As expected very hot and punchy! Lots of roasted chestnuts and spices of rye, cumin and anise. Caraway and clove. Barbecue sauce. Hints of chicken-masala as well. Notes of espresso coffee and dark chocolate at the background.
    • Finish
Quite long and lingering with sweetness of molasses and honey. Nutmeg. Pine at the end.

This is Enjoyable with capital E. Again a big thank you to Jan for the sample.
    • Nose
Wonderfully sweet, almost candied nose on caramel, blood oranges, maple syrup, honey and corn on the barbecue, upholstered with a few green herbs. Think dill and even some parsley. Hint of espresso with milk foam and almond shavings. This is simply wonderful.
    • Taste
The arrival is very powerful – no surprise there – and spicy. The sweetness is immediately overpowered by all kinds of spices like black pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg first and cloves and vanilla second. Said sweetness can be translated into dark, liquid honey and a truckload of mildly burnt sugars. But it is eminently quaffable, despite the high ABV.
    • Finish
The finish is warm and long. The spiciness slowly makes room for all the sweetness of the nose and palate.
