very good again. my compliments to the makers of this brand.
    • Nose
sweet and peaty. menthol and eucalyptus seem to be the trademark of paul john.there is quite some oak but still ok.
      earth and clay, rotting leaves.
water adds some citrus and pine sap.
    • Taste
very good, I think I am becoming a fan of this brand.
a wonderful balance between sweetness, smoke and freshness from the menthol and eucalyptus.
this barrel is less laphroaigy than the others I could taste but it is quite as excellent
    • Finish
long, perhaps a tad too sweet

    Very cool ...
    • Nose
Notes from an online blind tasting:

Dry, smoked ham. Ash, salt, meat broth, herbs, damp earth, rather tart
With a little time in the glass BBQ spices, paprika, tobacco, tart leather
    • Taste
Soft start. Then there is a lot of steam. The ashy smoke again. Greasy, dirty, Maggi, gravy and again the BBQ spice.
The second sip drier and spicier. Neat pepper. An oily mouthfeel is created. Something like olive oil.
    • Finish
Rather long. Spicy and again the greasy, dirty smoke. In addition, a subtle subliminal sweetness.

    • Taste
Honey, wax, caramel, apricot, nuts, some chocolate, some coffee, some wood, pepper

A really exciting torfer with an unusual profile. Especially with the pepper is very exciting. I like it!
    • Nose
Sweet, heavy, lots of oak, spices, vanilla, but also a very spicy peat note, which is comparable to Connemara a little towards burnt rubber. Not unpleasant, but not comparable to Islay. It becomes sweeter with water and the peat adds a few cowshed flavors, maybe even some milk chocolate. Definitely unusual, exciting and important, delicious.
    • Taste
Very sweet, very peppery, a lot of oak. A little bit of the aromas dissolve with water. But it remains: a lot of black pepper. Like a bite of peppercorn, with a nice sweetness and the oak flavors. The pepper is very dominant, so are likely to subtler flavors.
    • Finish
Tart oak, peppery notes (no alcohol, that comes back after a minute or two), a bit of peat, which, surprisingly, was the most intense in the nose. The whisky ends with spices, bitter oak and light peat.
