Bottler: Distiller's Art (Langside Distillers)
Expansion. Bourbon barrel (Hogshead)
Region: Speyside, Scotland
Nose: Directly very complex, reminiscent of the bourbon barrel: vanilla, a lot of vanilla. Behind it then line up the other flavors. This is followed by grapefruit, unripe pears, culinary herbs, salt, malt beer and hay. Even a slight touch of glue is noticeable.
Palate: Robust yet pleasant. All aromas of the nose are present, but much milder. For that comes a good deal of oak. Behind it gentle tobacco and caramel, unripe bananas and again the malt beer.
Finish: medium-long, sweet fruits, sweetened fruit salad, lots of spice and oak (but without acting bitter).
Conclusion: The whisky will probably polarize, I think this rather unclear and robust style really great.
87/100 points (tasted 2015, approx. 100 €)
