A sweet beast, if I may say so. The style of this bourbon is really to my liking. Needs water to reveal its true nature, but then...
    • Nose
Sweet spices, some cinamon, some cloves. Not too vanilled, which is good news. I am not against vanilla at all, but the fact is that it is often too present in Bourbons, making those too monolithic. Not too agressive at almost 66 ABV, but this may somehow partly block the aromas. But with water it opens beautifully, It becomes now fruitier with ripe bananas and cherries. Some oak too but fortunately it never becomes an oak decoction.
    • Taste
Sure this is strong, even a bit too much. I get some cherry, a vegetal side too. Definitely not vanilled or over sweet at all. Quite my style but let's check with water... With (a lot of) water, more fruits like in the diluated nose, nice bitterness, vegetal (fresh herb) notes. Really nice.
    • Finish
Very long, with a nice bitterness and vegetal notes. Remains on the back of your tongue for a loooong time. Good news is that the heavy dilution, almost mandatory here, does not harm the finish at all as it could sometimes with high ABV whiskies.

Had it as a blind, had no idea what it was. I mean the smell of bourbon is unmistakable but what kind was impossible for me to guess. At one time it slightly reminded me of a bourbon cask matured Kavalan but still convinced it was a George T Stagg or a Elijah Craig Single barrel. Anyway, high quality whiskey without doubts.

    • Nose
Initially closed but after while it opens up. Spicy on the nose with cloves, cinnamon, ginger (powdered ginger that is) and apple cider vinegar. With some water more caramel, creme brûlée and vanilla custard comes forward. Also coconut and the smell of linoleum mat for some reason.
    • Taste
Strong and spicy arrival with brown sugar, dark treacle. More dried fruits on the development, dried apricots in particular, cinnamon, nutmeg, red apples and bitter orange. With water also coffee powder and sweet corn.
    • Finish
The finish is almost rum-like, molasses, prunes, raisins, balamico vinegar, a mix of pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper and pink pepper, aromatic and perfumed.
