Talisker 30 years, bottled 2012, 45,8% alc. original bottling
Maturation: bourbon and sherry casks
Region: Isle of Skye, Scotland
Nose: Amazingly fruity and delicate, with beeswax, strawberries and honey. Light wood smoke resonates with it, the smell of parquet comes to my mind. The sweetness then pushes forward again, buttercrumbs and shortbread in the glass.
Palate: Here the Talisker comes clearly to the fore. The fruit of the wet gets into the background, colorful pepper and sweet chilli spread on the palate. In addition oak wood and subtle peat smoke, orange peel and forest honey.
Finish: Long and again sweeter than the palate, sticky caramel with slight bitterness, peat smoke and some soot in the background.
Conclusion: The sharpness of many a Talisker can quickly become uncomfortable, here it shows only briefly on the palate in the form of pepper, the age has done the single malt very well.
88/100 points (tasted 2015, approx. 300 €)
