In direct comparison with the 18-year-old the clear winner: intense, sweet, oily, beautiful fruit and spicy-salty - more chilli-catch, everything again 2 numbers better - very nice malt!

I've been very skeptical about these 30 and 25 year old Taliskers at 45,8%, but this is all Talisker no doubt about it , just lacking that familiar Talisker punch of cask strength versions.

Coastal ,peaty citrus and i get even some sherry notes? This distillery is the reason why I fell for Single Malts, and I like this profile a lot

    #WagnerAlexTastingNote

Aroma: floral, herbaceous, subtle vanilla, sweet, oak, low smoke, marine air coupled with subtle influence of fruits
Taste: with slight corners and edges, not as round as the 20yo, floral, subtle citrus notes, slightly smokier than in the aroma Finish: slightly astringent, wood and salt, again light fruits To me floral and therefore "only" 88/100

Very nice Talisker. As usual for old Talisker: Tropical fruits and smoke. Love it. The Talisker 30 also got a very nice texture and a deep and old character.Concerning price/performance ratio: 8/10
    • Nose
Gentle smoke, marzipan, anise, old leather, apricots, hints of lemon, yellow fruits, roses, a bunch of tropical fruits, honey.
    • Taste
Tropical fruits, salt, overripe apples, dusty old cupboard, some oak spiciness and citrus fruits, very nice texture.
    • Finish
Long. Salt, dried tropical fruits, some pepper and oak.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Elegant smoke blends together effortlessly with red fruits and coastal peat.
Palate: A finely-tuned balance of sweetness from plump berries and an enjoyable peppery heat. Its age shines through.
Finish: Final flourishes of smoke and salinity.
Overall: An elegant, refined and wholly exhilarating Talisker.

nice Whisky but nothing more. there were hints of spices and pepper. nice malt, some vanilla sweetnes. yes it is a rather old malt and it got better with the second dram but all in all a little disappointing.

Talisker 30 years, bottled 2012, 45,8% alc. original bottling
    Maturation: bourbon and sherry casks
    Region: Isle of Skye, Scotland

Nose: Amazingly fruity and delicate, with beeswax, strawberries and honey. Light wood smoke resonates with it, the smell of parquet comes to my mind. The sweetness then pushes forward again, buttercrumbs and shortbread in the glass.

Palate: Here the Talisker comes clearly to the fore. The fruit of the wet gets into the background, colorful pepper and sweet chilli spread on the palate. In addition oak wood and subtle peat smoke, orange peel and forest honey.

Finish: Long and again sweeter than the palate, sticky caramel with slight bitterness, peat smoke and some soot in the background.

Conclusion: The sharpness of many a Talisker can quickly become uncomfortable, here it shows only briefly on the palate in the form of pepper, the age has done the single malt very well.

    88/100 points (tasted 2015, approx. 300 €)
