- A lot of sherry, hint of salty tang which I still think is a lot of bollocks as there isn't going to be any salt on the barrel but pleasant nevertheless. Deep orange like the orange flavour you add to cakes. Sooty and burnt in the mouth suspect that is the peat and either charring or too much sherry. Finish lingers but I think in a cheat kind a way like the smell of stale tobacco. Not necessarily something you want to have linger. The nose is the best thing going on the 18. Maybe I am hard to please but finding a dram that really works in the mouth is hard work at this strength.
- Currently with about 100 - 120 € for an 18-year-old OA relatively expensive, but also pretty good! Can not remember that another 18er OA has inspired me so much!
For an 18-year-old original bottling for me an almost perfect nose!
Old spicy oak, caramel, vanilla, sherry notes, altogether relatively sweet and fruity, but always a light freshness (sea breeze). Perfectly balanced!
As the nose suggested. Oak spice, sweet sherry notes (plum), with a distinct tobacco note and some dark cocoa.
Medium to long. Plum.
