  1. Pauci scored this whisky 85 points Expert Junior

You can drink quite well on the side. Nothing bothers me, but there is also nothing outstanding or interesting to be found. A typical young Speysider without mistakes or bitter notes.
The sample is then sufficient. I don't have to have more of it.

  2. Kilo1 scored this whisky 84 points Expert Junior

The principle is satisfactory, but I don't want to buy myself a bottle.

  3. Gearmailteach scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

Pleasantly fruity summer whisky that pleases despite its youth.

Honey, summer meadow, vanilla, malt. Macallan-typical also creme brulee and a little sherry. Citrus, pineapple.
    • Taste
      84 84
Sherry and caramel on the way, nice oily and warm. Again creme brulee and summer meadow with honey. Orange, vanilla, lemon zest. Even some oak flavor and coffee.

Medium, slightly dry. Orange, malt, honey. Enjoyable.

  4. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

Very nice drinkable, young Mac, has more of something of pure bourbon keg, the young age you notice, but not only in the negative sense, nice mix of notes between fruit, spice and malt.
    • Nose
Pineapple, light honey, cornflakes, heather, star fruit, green apple, vanilla and light toffee, young oak, papaya light
    • Taste
Bright herbal honey, cornflakes, beautiful white chocolate, young oak chips, toffee a lot and vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and some white pepper, powdered sugar, papaya and star fruit, dry pineapple chips, light malt
    • Finish
Light malt, rather short to medium long, light honey, thyme, cinnamon, oak, pineapple chips

  5. domani scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

The whisky is pretty soft and light with a sweetness, albeit light and pleasant. In the aroma one could recognize an unspecified perfumed note which is not disturbing or even intrusive. A young but still solid whisky - 18.11.2017
    • Nose
Slightly sweet honey flavor, cereals, oatmeal, exotic fruits, star fruit, freshly sliced pineapple, pear, green apple honey
    • Taste
Nice sweet and soft, fruity, some ginger, medicine trickled on sugar cubes, forest honey, little spice

  6. Liberezlatourbe scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

A well balanced whisky, well done, but not complex, no originality and a bit too young
    • Nose
We start with a bit of bitterness brought by the wood and the plant well marked. As it progresses, it becomes greedier and grows pleasantly. Fruity notes arrive then a certain freshness. And that's all for me
    • Taste
Easy to keep, the texture is quite fluid. We attack with vanilla. Malt, honey, red fruits and milk chocolate. The tastes are linked well. A bitterness reminiscent of the nose comes to the end of the mouth makes the dram inevitably astringent.
    • Finish
Short on fruits, wood / spices and bitterness

Yes, I'm here, all the way up here - in the boardroom above the G&M shop in Elgin, for a bespoke tasting. After a simple yet welcomed lunch, expectations were high for five drams to follow [starting with a Glen Spey WB]. Hopefully it'll be a high five.
N: Creamy wetsuits with some tamarind and mild [no heat] cholula.
T: Orange-chocolatey sherry - many woods [trees/casks] and many alcohols. There's lots of sherry [types] that seem to disguise the situation.
F: Sweet-bitter-sour,... all-sorts. Undesirable burnt news at the end.
C: What is the Speymalt remit? Could be a way of using up what's left over in various warehouses. Feels like the sherry is masking a lot as so often it does, and very nicely too. Certainly a masterclass in blending and I like the result, but I'm not sure it's all that great a malt - although the best so far today :/ Last chance for something memorable,…. with a young, peated Bunna :/ WB.
