Taking the time to write up notes today on this one which I stashed away from a full bottle from a few years ago. I remember it being quite the dram and thoroughly enjoyed it. Don't see today's session being much different.

Nose is wool sweaters, machine oils, nice amount of tropical fruit, then OBE and mild peat, then some cracked pepper, and then some wafts of smoke in the distance.

Palate continues with honey, tropical fruit, light peat smoke, oiliness.

Finishes with honey, fruits, light pepper, light peat, and a nice and lingering oily smoke.

Honey exotic fruits very rich style, some peat, excellent!

Iconic Campbeltown Scotch Whsky. OBE is present, but not overwhelming the spirit. Lively and rich, this is what modern Islay strives to be but will never eclipse.
    • Nose
Nose is lively and dark. Dank, musty notes of peat and mechanical oils. Peat smoke and fishing gear, rich malt and fruity old school Sherry. Burnt fruit tea and tug boat engines. Maratimes in a bottle.
    • Taste
Palate: this is what dreams are made of... Loads of peat and malt, Sherry fruits, camphor, more malt and mint. Classic old Springbank.
    • Finish
Finish is so long. It's clingy like a bad girlfriend... You think it's gone but there it is hanging on in your driveway, wearing you favourite hoodie. Peat smoke lingers long, Sherry wood fruits and rotten vegetation.

I got a rather dark expression compared to most other 15yo with the black label - apparently it was bottled in the 90ies (around 1994).  It's a very good one like the 15yo miniatures with the black label that were much better than many regular 15yo with the black label. Finally I found a very good regular bottle.
    • Nose
Intense, honey, exotic fruits, pineapples, mango, ripe bananas, hints of leather and wood, whiffs of smoke and tobacco, old books - great!
    • Taste
Very, very oily and creamy, but a little punchy too, ripe fruits, citrus fruits, little bit of plums, nice oak wood, subtle sweetness - very good!
    • Finish
Long and warm, still fruity and rather sweet

+ H2O: nice and round, a little sweeter - nothing new at first; later comes some cereals, malt and fruit. This dram takes time! 04.03.2017 89
    • Nose
F: bright gold N: sweet, spicy - restrained, slowly comes fruit, after some time: glue, fruit, becomes fat-buttery
    • Taste
Oily body, yet light appearance, spicy herbaceous, becomes bitter, a little alcohol
    • Finish
long, sweet, herbs, slightly more alcohol, runs after bitter
