Well, what can one say, an average cry with a delicious and probably polarizing nose, which comes a little too thin. Gives better and worse. The real question is, how long or often can the good Jim Murray raise such whiskeys to the best in the world until his reputation begins to take damage? Not all sleep with their feet in the socket, right?

But nice to have a Rye again, it was too long ago ...
    • Nose
Fruity, malty and a lot of gherkins right at the beginning. Over time, floral tones, grassy notes, butter biscuits and caramel are added, but still with a sour overtone reminiscent of the said cucumbers. Does not heat any change in the flavors, only more powerful. Quite appetizing comes the whole package already over.
    • Taste
Malty, sweet, herbaceous, association of dissolved Ricola Swiss herbal sugar, which is enhanced by a distinct note of sucrose.
    • Finish
Sounds even, without anything sticking out. Remains medium.

Caramel chocolate duo on the nose. It's really a rye? Some notes of solvent that rather evoke a bourbon. Mint or thyme? In the mouth, rather fine and fluid. Solved notes. Aqueous enough for 45%. Easy final. It's completely drinkable, but we're far from a rye finally. Enthusiasm 3/5

Well, I just do not have the same version of our dear Jim. For $ 30, it can be shared with friends / family without problem ... From there to share with Whiskey lovers ... I'm not sure!
    • Nose
Very light at first glance, it is difficult to perceive the first volatile notes. Then we are clearly on a nose "fruity", I would say even on too ripe fruit at the limit of rotten. If it is allowed to aerate too long, you can feel the wet cardboard soak the glass
    • Taste
A slight attack ... much too light / watery, the dilution is clearly felt! It is necessary to wait until the drink reaches the middle of mouth to finally feel the first spices. Then despite the wait we stay on a whiskey too simplistic ... There are only woody notes, spices (This is a Rye!)
    • Finish
Short / Medium on spices, there is this little bitterness that is not unpleasant but does not catch up.

Not my case. The nose is still interesting. But the taste is too shallow and meaningless to me. In the finish, then disturbs me this artificial, sweet note then too much.
    • Nose
soft with bark and a decent portion of seasoning; Then there are cereals such as rye and spelled; it adds sweet, dark caramel; the sweetness is sometimes slightly artificial, as in sour fruit gum; over time, the sweetness becomes more and more dominant and the spice is a little pushed into the background; fruity and fresh aromas are added; Apricot jam and mirabelle compote; the sweetness then drifts a little more into the artificial again. It reminded me of Hubba Bubba chewing gum; In addition a slight menthol note mixes, which does not originate however from the alcohol; this is very well integrated and hardly noticeable
    • Taste
slight sweetness; a little honey and nuts; Pepper; a little caramel,
    • Finish
      short to medium length; again the seasoning, pepper and the artificial sweetness from the nose, it remains artificially sweet and slightly dry on the palate;

    • Nose
Honey, brown sugar, peach, mango, apricot, apple, lime, lemon, rye, flowers, straw, little cinnamon.
    • Taste
Rye, floral honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, biscuit, straw, lemon zest and baked apples
    • Finish
Middelang, explosion of spices, biscuit, rye, floral honey, lemon peel, straw and baked apples.

I bought this Rye in Canada for the equivalent of 25 € / 0,7l. Honestly, he is not worth more. How can such a whiskey by a certain "Whiskypapst" be rated as the best? Absolutely incomprehensible!

  8. der_collector scored this whisky 76 points Expert Junior

A strange whiskey. Rather malty with enormous sweetness behind which the rye tone is discreetly noticeable. He seems strangely unbalanced and almost sprightly. You notice very fast, this is not a real Rye, but a blend. Here the 10% Grainanteil are clearly dominant. You can not drink, but you do not have to. The Jim Murray rating can only be considered a bad joke.

Not much wrong with this. An easy sipper, despite being quite woody and spicy. It's nice.
    • Nose
A whiff of menthol and mint, before the oak takes over. Some mild spices (nutmeg and cloves), as well as vanilla, and just a hint of orange peel and sour apples. Not as intense as other ryes.
    • Taste
Lots of resin and wood shavings, followed by a touch of menthol. Plenty of nutmeg and cinnamon too, before settling into sweeter territory (marshmallows).
    • Finish
Short to medium in length. Spicy at first, soft oak, then sweet syrup.
