Decent whisky, appealing nose and taste but a bit boring finish. Slightly off balanced with too much sweetness. Virgin oak is somewhat recognizable.

    Score 83-85 range.
    • Nose
Medium impact nose. Spices, pears, apples, dades, hint of caramel. Honey. A bit of cookie dough. Very appealing nose!
    • Taste
Oily, smooth/soft, sweet (candy, honey). Caramel, wood, mild spices. Appealing taste but not overly complex. Little bit of citrus as well.
    • Finish
Short to medium long finish. Sweetness rules the finish. Little bit boring in dynamics maybe.

Not being any good at blind tasting, Glendronach is one of the few malts that I can recognize with my eyes closed. I was curious to find out if that Glendronach characteristic is also in this non-sherried bottling (my first virgin oak Glendronach). And yes! There it was, right from the beginning...Glendronach proves to be a strong character.
