A very nice surprise. Probably one of the oldest Brackla´s I had so far. Supposed to be bottled around 1983, so around 14y old.
    • Nose
Starts with lots of raisins. Hints of rum as well. Moist fruit cake. Cooked apples. Also hints of sweet sherry. Cedar wood. Cumin and Mint-toffee. Pine.
    • Taste
Fudge and butterscotch. Cocoa-butter. Nutiness of roasted almonds. Delicous chewy and creamy. Gingerbread. Notes of vanilla and honey at the background.
    • Finish
Long with a loverly woodiness. A little nutmeg. Cinnamon. Mint.

Oh my... i tried the mini and i also got the 0,7L bottle.

    Wanna taste this ?
Open this one up for like half an hour and then leave it on the side for a week before drinking...

It's incredible how the white wine alcoholic nose disappears and softens, breathing improves it so much !

I am now swapping my first 83p to 87p just for the radical change...

    A good Whisky,

but for my taste too much alcohol in the nose and there also not 'clear' enough - one has to search for the aromas, they are a kind of hidden.

All in all quite mouldy, dusty and earthy with too much barley and hay. Quite fiery.

... and keep in mind: Tongue and oral mucosa are damaged for 24 hours ...
    • Nose
Apples, raisins, mint, some solvents, apricots and peaches in alcohol, tropical fruits in rum, coffee and coffee liqueur, wet rotten wood, (unfortunately) again and again a floral and perfumed note, pine, traces of smoke, traces of chocolate and / or toffee, a little butter, a touch of honey, hay and grain and mouldy warehouse.
    • Taste
The nose is quite 'instable' and a quite strong alcohol stays all the time.

      Sweetness, citrus (very nice one!), Fudge, nuttiness, creamy and full, old dried vanilla pod, salt (... is getting more and more - very nice!), Coconut shell, almonds (?), Butterscotch;

old lemonade, some honey, wood smoke, mint, very bitter / bitter cocoa powder.

Also here we get that hay and grain and moldy warehouse that 'murders' the beautiful other aromas ...

Very powerful impression - and the alcohol is integrated now.
    • Finish
Sweet finish plus spicy wood, lots of salt, nut, old vanilla pod, aftertaste of lentil vegetables, again beautiful wood smoke and cocoa powder.
