  1. Malthead19 scored this whisky 77 points Expert Senior

A bottling from the younger days of the still (and I think you can tell), still relatively young, slightly "burning" but the approach of the typical very intense fruit notes of The Glen Els (as usual) available, compared with today Bottlings around the 70 € in my opinion clearly behind it.

    [Color] bright amber
[Nose] very strong, strong, powerful first impression, fruit notes in the direction of mirabelles / peach in combination with sherry in the background, oak, an alcoholic strength is still clearly noticeable

[Taste] very strong strong onset, spicy, distinct oak, very voluminous, wine notes (old long-stored dark wine), grapes, dry sherry aromas

[Finish] strong, present finish; powerful voluminous resonance

Not bad, but not the best artist ????
    • Nose
Dark fruits ... alcohol ... leave something ... wet charred wood ... bbq note
    • Taste
Sherry ... decent seasoning ... followed by honey and some bitterness
    • Finish
      Oak ... medium length

    • Nose
Light grapes with a slightly acidic impact. Green apple. Then a little sweeter with fruit gums and cold mint tea.
    • Taste
Grape juice spritzer, slightly sparkling. Yellow apple, trail mix.

Spontaneous artist I-IV-Tasting: For me the best artist bottling so far. Although I still have a hard time describing the distinctive feature of Málaga bottlings (I would be pleased to hear about your Málaga experiences / taste impressions), I seem to have a preference for Málaga maturations. :-) Unfortunately not as strong as WID 74843, but overall really good.
    • Nose
Very pleasant and varied. Chocolate, caramel, slight hints of leather, rum raisins, bread dough, apples and light smoke.
    • Taste
Oily and initially spicy-tart, then a beautiful, heavy sweetness is created: cereals, cocoa and espresso. In addition a discreetly integrated oak.
    • Finish
Long, comparatively heavy, spicy-sweet finish. In addition, subtle smoke and oak.

The extremely dynamic nose is definitely a highlight. Taste and finish are not quite here, but also move at a very high level. One is inclined to expect more sweetness with malaga barrels, but the strong spiciness from the oak tree sets very clear limits here.
    • Nose
A highly unusual mix of simultaneously fresh and dark, earthy notes. On one side are mint, eucalyptus, citrus and peach rings. Close behind them are rumrosins, caramel, pipe tobacco and stone fruit. Perceptible but gentle wood smoke and some peppery spiciness tower above both facets. Depending on the distance between the nose and the glass, the "dark" and sometimes the "bright" side of the malthouse grow stronger. Ideal for Star Wars fans. ;-)
    • Taste
The mouthfeel is heavy and oily. At the beginning very rustic with smoked sausage and hot pepper. Very quickly, the typical "Glen Els mouthfeel" with very sweet, creamy caramel strengthens. In addition, nuts, dark cocoa powder and rum raisins. The minty freshness from the aroma is no longer present on the tongue.
    • Finish
In the finish, walnuts, espresso, toasted bread and tender wood smoke take the lead. In addition, the sweetness in the form of vanilla sugar and light fruitiness appears again and again.

I tried to avoid german malt for a long time, thinking the germans are good in riesling and may be beer but certainly not in whisky. this proved me wrong. it's a very good malt. and it's very different from a scotch. its terroir spirit for shure. so it has its raison d'être. you should try it. 87/88
    • Nose
freshly baked still warm grey bread (it's a german malt...) with a few caraway seeds, leathershop, "Grützwurst" (so it seems to be really german or does any other peoples eat "Grütze", which is a grinded mix of barley and pork plus onions, salt, pepper, thyme, marjoram etc.?) but also the more common things like caramel, raisins, cacao powder. rather in the background there is a faint but warm and spicy woodsmoke.
    • Taste
sweet and spicy arrival, thick forest honey, fat marcaibo cacao (Hachez 55% for example), nougat, walnuts, walnut skins
    • Finish
a nice twisting long finish on walnut skins, chocolate, oak and woodsmoke

The nose is very varied and the taste you will find what you expect. The departure is unfortunately a bit monotonous. Nice intense, especially the sweetness and creaminess in the mouth.
    • Nose
It breathes directly to freshness, grated lemon peel, with chocolate, leather and tobacco, vanilla, definitely also light smoke, mint, slightly peppery, fruit notes, which are more likely to go in the direction of immature apple, a hint of salt pickled fish,
    • Taste
Wow, creamy sweet, very sweet, light smoke, nutty, chocolate, caramel, dry campfire smoke, behind it again the unripe sour apple, a little pear
    • Finish
More and more acidic, a little bit of caramel still in it, some smoke sticks to the palate
