I am truly a blessed man with a lot of whisky buddies.
Ruud is def. one of them. Thanks buddy for this Old School dram!
    • Nose
A touche of smoke, waxy, fruity - apple (sauce) and gentle spices - pepper and coriander.
    • Taste
Spices, freshly mown grass, waxy and ginger cookies. Next to fresh this Teaninich also has some dusty flavours. Very interesting mix. Later more honey and fruity notes - apple, rosehip and forest fruits
    • Finish
Soft pepper, some liquorice, grassy - green Haribo bears and ending in medium bitter fruits.

A very own whisky, slowly I start to connect Teaninich with these notes. Nice part. For people who are looking for something different from any mainstream.
    • Nose
Citrus notes pour into the nose, dry, lime, pineapple, a few berries, vanilla and honey, the power can be guessed and makes more and more noticeable, beeswax and orange peel
    • Taste
Again, I have pineapple clearly, green apple, passion fruit and mango, plus some tobacco and a nice sharpness of ginger, very powerful and tea is also there, overall rather dry, some oak is there, very own and somehow oldschool
    • Finish
Long by the strength and the age, astringent, something grassy again more, fine spice and I find you notice the ginger / tea and a little salt afterwards

Teaninich 1983 SMWS 59.53 "Mad Hatter's tea party" 31yo - 1983/2015 - 51.6% ABV - Refill Hogshead WID: 67889 https://www.whiskybase.com/.../whisky/67889/teaninich-1983-sm... #WagnerAlexTastingNotes First impression: Color: saffron; wide windows with thick tears running down the glass wall at normal to fast speeds Aroma: Immediately pouring in sweet and fruity aromas flow into the nose. Mineral, dry, old wood, sweet berries in the background, some dull alcohol is also noticeable, the sweetness and the aroma of wild berries become noticeably stronger over time; The next morning, liquorice and moldy wood with rocks - like after a rainy day, walking through the woods. Taste: sweet and tingling (like champagne), a bit of alcohol, strong on the watery side, barley, some pencil, peanut skin, a real "oldschool" malt without modern artificiality, also here the sweetness and the forest berries are clearly more prominent Finish, aftertaste: salty and mineral, sweet, long, very good, spicy and slightly astringent, moor and heath near the coast Overall impression: Pure Scotland Wonderfully different, not smoothed, very interesting with slight corners and edges; Too bad for Johnnie Walker Blends 92/100

this Whisky does need some time after you open the bottle. the nose is full of fruit, sweet, grassy, vanilla, spices but all smooth and easy going. one dram is not enough. the ABV is just perfect, does not need any water. incredible good Whisky!

    SMWS Tasting Notes

A rich and mellow nose: wine gums, crystallised orange peel, cling peaches, beeswax. Some panel members also noted rhubarb – lightly astringent - then ‘Rich Tea biscuits dunked in stewed tea’, gingerbread manuka honey and a trace of star anise. Rich and smooth to taste; sweet (toasted marshmallow on a stick), with tobacco and chilli spice in the finish. Drier and more woody at reduced strength, with linseed oil, melted butter with oats, ground-nut oil, pancake batter and spice. The taste remains sweet, smooth and spicy. ‘Mango tea’ was mentioned, with mixed dried fruits, as in Christmas mince pies.

simply awesome. this year is a very good example for what SMWS calls "old and dignified"
