Nose

Comments

Un whisky d'une rare fraîcheur !

Nose

Mouth watering. All kinds of crystallized citrus fruits, and a pinch of farmy peat. And the sweetness of canned pineapple. Great sweet & sour combo. Very complex and tantalizing.

Taste

Sharper now, with grapefruit (both pink and yellow) and lemon zest. Quite peppery, and slightly bitter (lemon zest again...)

Finish

Very long, sustained by the classy bitterness of grapefruit skin.

Comments

The nose itself is stupendous. The mouth is quite "Clynelishy", but the slight bitterness might disturb you.

Nose

Scented candle wax. Also light polished oak. Pineapple, peach and apricot. Citrus fruit as well. Honey and some flowery notes. Even a whiff of smoke.

Taste

Lots of citrus fruit now. Lemon and lime. Orange peel. It's all quite astringent, citric and sharp. Cedar wood. Also metalic notes.

Finish

Long. Bitterness of pink grapefruit. At the end some salt.

Comments

A very citrussy Clynelish.

Nose

Comments

Merveilleux.

Notes from Serge - www.whiskyfun.com

A sister cask of the two excellent Prestonfields that were selected by la Masion du Whisky last year. Colour: white wine - pale straw. Nose: ah, good news, this is much more typically Clynelish. More phenolic and much phenolic and much more lemony, with a beautiful sharpness and quite some peat, although less than in the first Prestonfiel. Hints of pineapples, humus, grated lemon skin, grapefruits, green tea (or rather white tips), beech wood smoke... Also ripe gooseberries... Quite some oak as well but it`s perdectly integrated. What a lovely and complex nose!

Mouth: this is considerably better than the 1970. The attack is totally Clynelish, waxy, superbly citrusy and beatifully spicy (various peppers). We have also quite some lemon balm, spearmint, peat oak... Then crystallised orange and lemon zests. It`s actually a little rougher than the Prestonfields, maybe it could have stayed in its cask for a last five or ten more years. Finish: very long, lemony, peaty and peppery, with always quit some wax and the usual dash of salt. Very sligt cardboardiness, which is the only (very, very small) flaw. 91 points.

Had the chance to try this today, fantastic! Went to let the owner of
this liquor store try the Balvenie tun 1401 #3 and he pulled this out.
He said it was given him to try from a friend from Scotland. I Liked it
and haven`t tried any of these before, well done!

Remember it\'s maturity that makes whisky great! That\'s why I Love The Glenrothes! Signature Picture
