A nice whisky, especially the long finish has done to me. Even if the wood notes are pronounced, the barrel influence leaves much room for fruit notes from the distillate. A really good example that it does not always have to be sherry. I really like such whiskys.

    blind tasting
    • Nose
Mandarin, vanilla, yellow apple, sawdust, white grape juice, caramel, in the background a subliminal spiciness, slightly sour
    • Taste
Powerful approach, a short pungency, which however immediately subsides, the body is very soft and creamy, sweetly caresses the whole mouth, again tangerine, mixed with the association of old, wet wood, a little musty, a trace of sulfur, the second sip suppose I had white pepper, the musty impression subsides, the fruit becomes more intense. Do I taste a trace of smoke? That could be imagination.
    • Finish
Gentle finish, vanilla, a little fruit, grapes, the memory of the tangerine, then a clear bitterness as with a tart beer, this note will remain on the palate for a long time

    • Nose

Vanilla, citric, orchard fruits, green apple, marzipan, hay, hints of heather, minerals, little leafy notes, spices, pepper, whiffs of sherry and toffee - not bad
    • Taste
      89 89
Little punchy, oily, fruity, honey, subtle swetness, apple, pear, peach, citric, some orange peel, vanilla, honey, pepper, sherry notes, some herbs, some black tea - really not bad
    • Finish
      89 89
Medium long, warm, zesty, spicy, pepper, woody, hints of (good) leather

But very little wood for the age. A bit unconvincing in the nose, but a real treat in the mouth. And then my vintage :)
    • Nose
Passion fruit, passion fruit, vanilla, lemon, subtle peat smoke, kiwi, moist hay, mint
    • Taste
Vanilla, caramel, light smoke, tangerine, coffee, cocoa, quince
    • Finish
The sweetness remains in the mouth and creates a subtle spice and the smoke gets its appearance again. In the end, there is a minimal bitterness. Coffee & Cocoa come to my mind.
