    Tropical fruit basket ...
    • Nose
      Colour:
      Shiny gold

      Nose:
The first thing that comes to my mind is dry oak. Compulsory vanilla and then it gets interesting ... if it is a bit longer, open it. Go well then in the tropical fruit direction. I find mango, banana and some sour pineapple. Fruit basket stop. In the background is a tea aroma. Orange apple and cinnamon.
    • Taste
Woody start with neat barrel wort. Malt and vanilla. Then the tropical, cooked fruits get through properly. Add some bitter herbs and bitter almonds. Also in this Fettercairn there is a floral note in the taste. The alcohol is clearly noticeable and brings all his strength. But also brings volume into the gush.
    • Finish
Medium long with a generous portion of seasoning. Drought is spreading. But then it is replaced by the tropical, sweet fruit basket.

After I got a shock in the first breath, violets like Bowmore, the nose showed up as an ex-Bourbon picture book bouquet. In the mouth, he did not convince me so much, but it has to be said that the alcohol is excellently involved here. The finish was the weakest, somehow I'm missing something. Very difficult to evaluate in today's line-up, 86 points from me, but without wavering as the Old Particular ( https://www.whiskybase.com/whisky/81036/fettercairn-1995-dl ). He is the point winner, but the OP was more exciting.

Notes from an online chat tasting.
    • Nose
Hui, the most intense of all, fruit salad with vanilla and caramel immediately. After a few moments I find citrus flavors, but dark and citrus, orange, pomelo. Rich and harmonious, tropical fruit suits. Bananas, guavas, ripe pineapple, papaya, hardly any acidity. Over time, the nose becomes lighter, more bananas, peaches, red apples and now also pastries. Ui, adhesive, short but intense, with silage. When heated very intense, sour fruit drops or sweets type lemon. In addition a strong grain note, becomes increasingly sour and loses then.
    • Taste
Very creamy mouthfeel, at first he does not know what he should taste, then he starts slowly, first comes the ginger and then the caramel pudding and many fruit pieces. Custard cream. At the second sip he knows what he wants earlier. The oak also shows harsh spices over the dessert composition. The above-mentioned tropical multivitamin juice comparison, I also find very nice.
    • Finish
The first sip he had disappeared almost abruptly, the second he leaves there a little more time. I find the finish after a short herbage, however, unexpectedly very mild and sweet. The memory remains pleasant for a while in the mouth. What I missed here was the warmth.

I think my tendency is recognizable. ;-)
Incredible fruit basket, top example, that even Bourbon keg is nothing boring, 85 € are not cheap, but I do not succeed in the best of intentions, rumgerörgeln.
    • Nose
Wow, full citrus bomb (and the undiluted!), Grapefruit, blood orange, pomelo ... with time, other exotics are added, passion fruit, pineapple ... juicy, yummy! In addition, a beautiful honey sweetness, a cloud sawdust and ginger - there you can smell forever. (A tiny drop of water makes the fruit basket even prettier, but beware, too much is deadly!)
    • Taste
Such a Nasenversprechen one can not keep in the taste (at least not without a real basket of fruit), but the experiment is doing well: Of course, much more beats the sweetness of honey, malt, nougat, plus a lot of pepper, but the fruit mix is also in the mouth present, multivitamin juice hits it - tropical multivitamin juice.
    • Finish
long, hot, spicy, dry, bitter lemon, blood orange

    Whiskybase sample
    • Nose
Quite woody - oak planks and saw dust. Varnish. Some apple pie, cinnamon. Limestone.
    • Taste
Creamy. Quite full bodied. Lots of fruit - orchards (apple and pears) and tropical. More new wood.
    • Finish
Mostly fruit. A little toasted oak.

Wow, I didn't see that coming, a very nice surprise from this underestimated distillery and bottler.
    • Nose
Starts off with pine wood, resin, heavy oak, varnish, after a while becomes slightly herbal, farmy with notes of hay, slight minerality, eucalyptus and pepper.
    • Taste
Creamy, oily, sweeter than the nose promises with toffee, nougat, mint, pepper and gentle fruitiness.
    • Finish
Long, powerful, mouthwarming, with mint, pepper and oak being dominant.

    Fettercairn 14 2000 C & S Bourbon Barrel 3171 53.6 WID: 67676 (1 drop of water)
Nose: Immediately very creamy with ripe orange fruits. Peach from the tin. Some cream, possibly with coconut. So in the direction of Raffaello cream. Vanilla. The fruits become more tropical. Pineapple and mango. Very delicate. Salivation begins.
Taste: The sweet fruits are immediately there. They are overripe. Mirabelles, peaches, mango and some pineapple. After a while something soapy comes along. But it is not disturbing. He can stay in the mouth for a very long time and does not get spicy.
Finish: After swallowing comes a slight bitterness, which is immediately displaced again by the fruits. The fruits then stick to the cheeks for quite some time. Wood remains on the tongue. Vanilla is also there. The esophagus stays warm for a long time. Overall, quite a long finish.
Conclusion: a real fruit bomb. I do not notice the 53.6%. The nose is very nice, somehow creamy. The mouthfeel is quite full, but does not completely restore the creamy nose. Overall, very nice. So I raise my rating in the base by one point: 87 pts.

Nose: a full basket of fruit. First nice notes of apricot and quince, vanilla, malt and a touch of honey, with the time come exotic fruits such as lychee and pineapple. Again and again some alcohol and an asian-looking spiciness stand out.
Taste: very spicy and peppery onset, the exotic fruits and lemons now gain the upper hand in the fruit notes. At the end, a sweet malting note and a bit of bitter oak are added.
Over the entire long finish but remains fresh and spicy. The fruit note is now reminiscent of a multivitamin juice.
Very full and spicy bourbon barrel fruit bomb that was (wrongly) apparently ignored so far by the whisky world. I am glad to have discovered this.
