again a great Bladnoch from the Bourbon barrel. Especially the nose and the unexpected tobacco notes are interesting.
    • Nose
very fruity, mango, citrus, also apple (cooked) with a honey note, also slightly mineral but still a good portion of vanilla.
    • Taste
very sweet, vanilla and indefinable fruit, actually some tobacco, clear cigar box (cedar wood?)
    • Finish
getting bitter, slightly grassy, a bit artificial from the sweetness. Sweetish notes with tart oak at the end.

A nice dram overall. Quite strong without water - in fact, I only take this with water.
    • Nose
Sweet grassy note, vanilla, honey, green melon, fresh wood, mild lemon.
    • Taste
Grassy, spicy, and sweet arrival. Strong alcohol notes (this whisky needs water, and I don't usually add water to my drams). Mild honey, citrus, light melon note, wood, watery vanilla.
    • Finish
Long spicy finish with lingering grassy note and a honey undertone.

Well - highly disappointed here - my first Adelphi AND my first Bladnoch....  Likely to be the last of each.

The nose is actually quite nice - maybe that is the so to speak - disingenuous part of it all.  The palate is quite decent but devolves into a kind of sickly perfumey taste in a medium long finish that is simply unpleasant.   My only guess is that in light of the material itself being of medium decent quality  - that it is the actual Bladnoch mash-bill that is the issue.

The bigger issue is that we are paying big-bucks to Adelphi for some decent material - and simply not getting it.  My emails so far to HQ have NOT been responded to - pretty disappointed in that as well....

I have an Adelphi Glen Moray - not sure how anyone can screw up a decent Glen Moray - so hopefully that will at least be drinkable - but still - that is less than satisfactory when one is knocking down $150/bottle...
