Very nice and interesting station wagon, probably. a little more power desired.
    • Nose
Smoked and peat notes, light Parma ham but not as strong as in Kilchoman or Ardmore sometimes, with sour strawberry, plum, malt, vanilla
    • Taste
Peat sweetness and bacon, strangely stronger and peatier than Caol Ila itself (without finish), berries, dried strawberries, grapes, some oak, gentle salt notes, oily as usual by Caol Ila
    • Finish
Medium long, peat & grape sweetness remain

A delicious Islaywhisky! Fine smoke and wonderful peat with a fruity finish. The alcohol content should be just over 50%.
    • Nose
Orange or intense amber with a light pink touch, the whisky shimmers in the glass. Creamy and oily, the drops slowly and cumbersome after swinging back into glass.
Subtle smoke with a fine peaty note floats out of the glass. Fruity sweetness mixes with the smoky aroma. Light caramel and malt are added. The alcohol is harmoniously integrated and begins to bite only slightly after a longer smell of slightly sharp in the nose.
    • Taste
Briefly, fruity aromas flash at the first sip, before intense peat and smoke dominate. The alcohol content, in contrast to the nose when drinking much more intense and powerful. The first sip is very creamy and relatively "cool" and fresh. Now the alcohol begins to tickle lightly on the tongue. Subtle, slightly sweet and spicy wood notes emerge. The addition of water is not necessary despite the probably ü-50% alcohol content. The second sip develops an aroma of iodine and a tiny pinch of salt.
    • Finish
The finish begins like the taste with fine but intense peat and smoke notes. Slight heat and iodine now dominate the finish. Again and again fruity notes flash through the peaty smoke. The finish sounds slow and develops a fine peat aroma.

Wonderful dram. Good balance, lot of flavors that come in layers. Thanks to Mathias Nilsson for the sample.

    (Rating interval 86-88)
    • Nose
Heavy peat smoke and lot of fruits, fresh fruits, plenty with herbals as well, thyme and sage, even some celery and sea salt.
    • Taste
Sweet and measured arrival, salt and peat smoke to back up the sweets. More pepper comes into the development with more intense peat smoke that goes into the finish. Mineral, grapes, fresh plums and leather.
    • Finish
The peat smoke dominates, but there is also the herbal notes from the nose, sweet mint and again sea salt.

N: soft ashy peat, sulfur, strawberries and cream, tart raspberries, black licorice
T: a bit weak right off the bat, creamy, ashy strawberry/raspberry fading. Not enough punch. Like you put too much water in
F: great flavours of lemon, ash, strawberries again, but very weak, just leaves you wanting more.

    Enthusiasm Nose and mouth 3/5 Final 4/5 Whisky n ° 1664
    • Nose
Typical ash peat, fresh with a hint of sulfur. Fruit jam. With the opening, it becomes more confusing.
    • Taste
Soft, supple and balanced, we find fruit jam. Peat and less present at the end of the mouth.
    • Finish
Late arrival of spices that complete the panorama. Leave a very beautiful impression. A very easy dram.

Good Caol Ila, especially the nose. Because of the character, he would have had a cask strength.
    • Nose
Peat, sweet and sour fruits, salt, spices, camphor and smoke.
    • Taste
Oaky, bittersweet, vividly acidic. Sweet fruits, cinnamon and chili. Camphor and herbals.
    • Finish
      Medium length, smoky, ashy, oaky.

  10. pianoman scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Log fire, green apples, bright grapes. A trace of Dijon mustard. Some leather and hay.
    • Taste
Round and sweet. Honey, light grapes, pears. Then nuts, dark chocolate and ashes.
