The colour is yellow gold and the texture shows fast thick legs and late tears. The nose offers some OBF (aceton) - I did not expect this in such a 12 year old whisky. Did they add some older casks to this batch? Some sherry and heather-honey aromas too, the best nose of all younger Auchentoshan I can remember. It arrives very smooth and gentle in the mouth with no hot moments but it is nicely coating - another hint of some older casks? The taste is honey-sweet with some chocolate and mandarins flavours, again really nice. And the finish is of medium length without any bitter or drying notes.
I have never been a fan of Auchentoshan so far as the triple distillation removes too many flavours and aromas in my opinion - but this one is really nice and easy-to-sip. Maybe I should try a newer batch of this 12 year old to verify this good impression and I selected WB id 75534 for this.
