Médicinal herbal bacon bonfire, lacks complexity but a very enjoyable laphroaig.

As good as I remembered and even better I would say. Fantastic nose, refined, complex and evolving. Austere and sharp palate with a profile I love. Long and aromatic finish like nose and palate. Excellent selection from The Whisky Fair.
    • Nose
Gentle peat, earthy notes, grilled meat and pines on a bonfire on the beach, seabreeze. Let it breathe and it becomes more exhuberant. The sherry brings dried fruits (prunes, dates), chocolate and citrusy notes. A few ashes, liquorice, mentholated notes.
    • Taste
More austere. Sharp and dry. Ashes and aromatic herbs. The bonfire and pines from the nose. A pinch of salt. Light medicinal notes (this is a Laphroaig for peat's sake). Dried fruits, oranges, chocolate.
    • Finish
Long, drying. Continuity of the palate with bonfire, herbs and mentholated notes.

http://kaypingers-whiskyblog.de/frontend/fullarticle.php?id=271 Color: corn yellow Nose: Strong, sherry-laden smoke with lots of spicy peat, tar, wet coal, salty lemon and fresh mint. For the sweetness is brown sugar and sweet malt leading. Taste: Soft, fruity and spicy. Peaty smoke, tar, ashes, cardboard, oranges, sweet honey, caramel and an underlying minty freshness. Finish: Medium-long, fresh and well-integrated with peat notes. The fruit component echoes for a long time on the tongue and is peppered with the typical Islay note and dark wood. Comment: Purebred Sherry-Laphroaig 89 points (Nose: 88 / Taste: 90 / Finish: 89)

At first he had reminded me of the taste of the Quarter-Cask, but compared to others, the remarkable Laphroaig flavor is expressed.

amber color, very elegant nose, not very peaty for Laph, only slightly medicinal, nice well integrated sherry notes, chocolate, apricot, orange, plum, dried fruit, liquorice, cinnamon, a little earthy too. The mouth also keeps this elegance, fairly light at 46%, but with the charm and complexity of the nose, small salty tip and more. Finale not endless, we feel a little reduction, but very pleasant, on the ash, chocolate, dried fruits, a little salt and spices. Very beautiful Laph, on a profile that I particularly like.

    First impression is really cooling.
Menthol, fishermens friend cherry, black currant. The sherry is there, but not particularlly sweet. Peat and smoke are very well integrated and are not overpowering the whole. Maritime and salty qualities remain in the background aswell. Its a nice and intriguing nose.

On the palate the sherry is quite dominant. Sweet, dark fruits and herbal aromas combined. Soft smoke, soy sauce, cured ham and drying wood tannins. A little thin maybe.

Rather short finish on peat, black currants and astringent european oak. Its a nice dram, but a little expensive for what it has to offer. You can find almost similar quality in SV unchillfiltered refill sherry laphis for half the price.

The Whisky Fair generally selects its casks well. This Laphroaig is no exception to the rule. A large whisky, rich, with a persistent aromatic to make blush most casks raw ... A whisky for lovers of raw peat, fine, sharp.
    • Nose
a peat is immediately in the foreground. A rich peat, which oscillates between organic notes, such as earth, humus or seaweed, and more meaty notes, with bacon and grilled meat. The sherry brings are lots of aromas. Varnish, notes of precious wood, and then, a beautiful basket of fruits! Prunes, dates, apricots, peaches, and with the opening, things a little more exotic, like mango. And then, as if that was not enough, we get lost in the freshness of eucalyptus, mint and licorice.
    • Taste
despite the reduction, this Laphroaig retains a nice power. We begin with obvious notes of Provence herbs, thyme, cold ashes, a wood fire at the edge of the beach, with salty spray. We close our eyes, we're on Islay. The whole is quite dry, we do not find at all the sweet side present on some Laphroaig traffic jams. Here it is clear, precise, incisive. The typical medicinal side of Laphroaig is there, with some smoked fish, and with the opening, some dried fruits like prune and apricot. The aromatic field is not very wide, but all this is so well put together, that the goal is reached: fun!
    • Finish
Endless on the ashes, the herbs of Provence, the eucalyptus, the burnt wood. It is delicious.
