  1. ConvalRen scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Recently tasted again as part of an old samples lineup, been sitting in my cabinet for almost 5 years now. Old notes taken back in July 2016 suggests a hard-to-take in malt that opens up within 25 mins to 45 mins.

Notes acquired ranged from barley, to hay, to pine tree nuts, apple cider, boiled cabbage, steamed potatoes, garlic-infused olive oil sprinkled with chili flakes. (N,T,F,B; 88,86,87,87) - 87

Updated to 2021: Ripen lentils, cabbage stew, stir-fried corn and green peas, basque cod with red beans, a rather oily component that is similar to Clynelish or as metallic as a Mortlach. For the point of 89, it has shown a deep complexity that has an unkept balance throughout the experience. It's funky and odd that's why it is able to keep itself afloat every time the flavor profile dips to another spectrum.

[May, 2010]  Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 110 Euro (without the box hence no bottle no.) in January, 2004.

In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 87,5.  My notes state this is a very shy dram that takes a lot of time to enfold.  It offers a truly old style that is not produced any more since decades.  Worth to explore, but probably not to everybody's liking...
