An excellent sherried Littlemill where typical distillery markers and cask influence are working nicely.
    • Nose
Littlemill's typical notes with the sherry influence. Fresh grass, white and exotic fruits salad (pears, bananas, mangoes, passion fruits), varnish, chocolate, tobacco and earthy notes.
    • Taste
Fruity (fruits from the nose, grapefruits) and spicy. Herbal tea, ginger, tobacco again.
    • Finish
      Long, sweet and spicy.

The nose is the blast! Fruity, sweet, multi-layered, full of character and stimulating makes the nose hungry for more. In terms of taste and aftertaste, the fruity and sweet mixture is barely noticeable, and surprisingly it is dominated by bitter citrus flavors and spicy wood tones. An intense walnut note is dominant all the time over the fruit and wood notes. Nevertheless, I like this varied Littlemill very well, even if I miss the sweet fruit note a little in the taste and aftertaste.

    24/22/22/23 (91P)
    • Nose
The Littlemill shimmers amber in the glass, long, oily "legs" stick to the glass wall of my Premium Snifter. Creamy roasted aromas rise, hazelnuts and raisins emerge. Gradually, subtly sour fruit notes, mirabelle plums and a hint of exotic fruits follow. Sweet and fruity are followed by pineapple, mango, green apple and redcurrant, tangerines and a hint of apricot mingle with milk chocolate and minimal toffee. The nose is extremely sweet and fruity at the moment, cherries and blackberries come into their own, while fruit infused with rum slowly stimulates the salivation. After a few minutes, I imagine myself perceiving yellow fermented fruit. Do I smell a pinch of cinnamon?
    • Taste
Shallow and relatively mild, the first sip flows through the mouth, suddenly there is a crackling sharpness on the tongue, spicy wood elements stick to the edges of the tongue while warmth engulfs the palate. Abrasion of orange peel and grapefruit exude their discreet bitter and bitter aroma, again tickling subtle sharpness on the tip of the tongue, tart and spicy wood tones run through the throat. Minimal hints of a dark spicy note, walnuts sticking slightly rancid on the palate, as well as a hint of wet foliage and hard dark chocolate or block chocolate. Lightly burnt sugar and a hint of citrus fruits make a strange combination, with dark walnuts, the taste goes into the aftertaste.
    • Finish
Dark walnuts stick with spicy wood tones on the palate, dried berries and grapes come up. Toasted cereals and a touch of cold espresso are shown, yellow berries and fruits are slightly malty, a chunk of caramel floats in the stimulated saliva under the tongue. With tart wood tones and a dry walnut aroma, the Littlemill sounds slow and leaves a creamy and slightly greasy mouthfeel.

Certainly not a very active first-fill sherry cask, but that works very much in favour of this Littlemill.
    • Nose
The soft, dry sherry notes are balanced well with the typical Littlemill fruitiness and slight cardboard aromas, followed by glue and cereal husks. It's a tad shy at first, but opens up if you give it some time. Passion fruit, shades of mango, as well as galia melon.
    • Taste
Perfect. Juicy and a little less dry than the nose suggests. Grapefruit and oranges, and that cardboard-y taste is here too. Whiffs of milk chocolate, ginger and rye bread. Whispers of Earl Grey tea as well.
    • Finish
Bitter pink grapefruit galore with hints of toffee.

Yes, what should I say. Bad I can not find this Littlemill, only I have drunk for significantly less money even whisky, which have tasted better. Maybe I would have given him 2-3 points less blind - I do not know? Littlemill is such a thing - special, strange, individual, but also a matter of taste. Overall, I think it's quite good, but it does not do justice to its high price for my taste. Littlemill fans will probably not go wrong here.
    • Nose
The nose is very fresh and reminds me directly of yellow fruit, apricots, mango, and bananas. In addition to the fresh-smelling fruit, I also have grains, such as Quaker oatmeal. I have not the typical heavy, sweet sherry kick in the nose, but rather the fresher version. Nevertheless, I also smell the alcohol of a bit poking - but what do you want to do, cask strength.
    • Taste
Ui ui ui ... Definitely new moments are opening up here. Very malty on the throat, strong onset, spicy, sherry is there, a little bit of caramel, cereal, or the aforementioned flakes, but also something like ... ... rubber? Yes, somehow I have such annoying gum-minute with Littlemill sometimes. It seems to be the same rubber that you either love at Littlemill or not? The start and this malty I like - the bicycle tube takes some getting used to.
    • Finish
The finish is long, the malt pushes for a long time and the above-mentioned disturbing note disappears quite quickly. I swallowed the malt now and I like it. Sherry hangs in the throat, and the Aftertaste reminds me of apricot corn yoghurt.

Nose: Orange (juice), some spices, a bit sour. Lightly earthy and flowery.

Gest fuller, warmer and more floral. Sweet. The spices get softer/mellow.

    Furniture pollish.

Taste: Sweet and peppery, but both light and very pleasant. Oragnes, Its a sweet and full bodied taste, but stil very light.

Finish: Nice and spices. First sweet, but it gets more bitter from the oak. Some mocca and milk chocolate.

Jekyll and Hyde. A schizophrenic whisky that takes the lead by giving the best only through the worst ... Difficult to note. I go from 76 to 92 in a lick ... So, I cut in two: 84.
    • Nose
A double-faced whisky, sometimes taking me away, sometimes repugnant to me. Come on, I start with the darkest face. Something powerful and disgusting made of a mixture of fresh tobacco and acrylic paint. There is a kind of wet wood in putrefaction from behind. It reminds me of the Dalmore Asta Morris ( https://www.whiskybase.com/whisky/42252/dalmore-single-cask ), that is to say how pleasant it is ... And here is the most smiling face: juicy notes of fresh fruit in the volatile nose, suave heavy volutes and fragrant precious woods. The problem is that you have to stuff one to get the other. Littlemill has always seemed a strange whisky.
    • Taste
Attack from the wood of the sherry cask and strong herbaceous notes, then acidulous fruits, and a woody bitterness.
    • Finish
Superb fade out tangy on a sweet and scented frame. We go through the pink flowers and strawberry tagada, then we finish with a growing aroma and persistent foam or wet bark ... or mold, depending on whether we want to see it the good or the bad side ...

Very special sip. A real tasting whisky, certainly no drinking whisky. Topper! Very recognizable Littlemill.
    Sample 6 or Virtual Blind Tasting 7 @ HetWhiskyForum.nl
    • Nose
Muesli, honey, caramel, passion fruit, mango, banana and slightly greasy (Greek yogurt?). Wood shavings, antique furniture and cloves. Classic.
    • Taste
a bit of an indeterminate entry, especially woody bitterness. Only after that will the fruit look around the corner. Very sweet fruit such as banana, galia melon and ripe oranges. Pistachio nuts! Wow. But also an off note of litter box or wet newspaper. Not unpleasant! But oh so typical. I think I already know what it is ...
    • Finish
quite long, dry and bitter but with a nice balance. Raisins, dried apple.

With water the nose opens up on chocolate orange and caramel, no real change on the palate apart from a little ginger spice now.

    Finish is still reasonably long.

This is an excellent spicy Littlemill.
    • Nose
Pleasant nose on hints of coffee, melon, fudge it smells light and refined.
    • Taste
Quite a light mouthfeel and very fruity and zesty. I get orange, Christmas spice, glacier cherries and toffee.
    • Finish
Quite long, warming and smooth with a little coffee at the finish mixed in with the fruit.

    Nose :
Bourbon-y, Rye, Very fresh air. Is this the five-grain thing from Zuidam? Something like that to me, that also seemed like a kind of bourbon choir wine ..... Glue and peach / nectarine syrup like something. Very intriguing nose. With water, more spiciness emerges than in a bourbon

    Taste :
Liquid fruit syrup from canned. I am serious with goose bumps, this is really tasty! Hint of yeast and new wood. Small alcohol kick.
More fresh wood, grass and yeast come up with water. But also a little bit of herbs.

    Body :
Thick, oily and also very full and creamy mouth feeling!

    Finish :
Soft, medium, but again very sweet and siropig. Continues to develop. Unfortunately a bit of an anti-climax.

Especially the nose of this whisky I personally found really sublime. When I smelled hours later of the glass in which the Littlemill had been sitting, the hazelnuts and cinnamon were very dominant.
    • Nose
Mandarin and caramel, prunes, cinnamon and a hint of hazelnut.
    • Taste
A lot of fruit, first blueberries than citrus and grapefruit. Caramel. Milk chocolate and hazelnuts in the background.
    • Finish
Fruity, especially citrus. Caramel, hazelnuts and a little cinnamon.

A really great expression bottled by the Hart Brothers. No casual Littlemill, very fruity according to a mixture of berries all over the dram. Very musty at the start, but overripe berries are on their march to the distillery, no one can stop them.

    Concerning price/performance ratio: 8/10
    • Nose
Fudge, caramel, toffee, gingerbread, sherry, glaced fruits, blackberries, rasins, raspberries, plums, cherrys, fruit chocolate.
    • Taste
Fudge, toffee, soaked scones, a load of overripe fruits (dark and red fruits in the mix), fermented fruits, bitter almonds way in the back.
    • Finish
Medium to long. Cherrys, blackberries, cranberries, raspberries. A pot of berries on its way to a distillery, flintstones and gunpowder.

    • Nose
Insanely full-bodied and complex. Fruity sour notes dominate the first impression. Red fruit jelly. Blackberries. Limes. Orange peel. After a while, more spicy notes come to the fore. Cloves. Dark chocolate. Cocoa. Oak. Pickled raisins. Caramel. Behind herbal notes. Pine needles.
    • Taste
Mild entrance. Currants. Cranberries. Ripe cherries. Grapefruit. Lime juice. Getting oilier. Cloves. Brown sugar. Caramel. Dark chocolate.
    • Finish
Long. Cranberries. Cherries. Currants. Raspberries. Burnt caramel. Toasty aromas. Pepper. Oak. Mocha. Cocoa bean. Cereals show up in a dry finish.

Incredibly unique and complex nose, with a profile that I haven't really come across before. Clear presence of a sherry cask, with plenty of rich, dark stewed fruits in evidence, but it never masks the very high quality spirit lurking behind. Lovely cereal notes come through, alongside creamy milk chocolate and a range of herbal aromas. With some time in the glass and a drop of water all these intertwining notes seemed to become even more vibrant, with some additional industrial notes (whiffs of engine oil and something very faintly metallic) adding to the interest. I could spend all evening just nosing this one....really beautiful stuff! The cereal, herbal and industrial notes come through clearly on the palate, supported by some dark (stewed) black tea and over-ripe fruits (a hint of cherries and strawberries in there somewhere). A medium length finish shows hints of bitterness but then pulls back at the last minute to allow cereal and pepper to linger on the tongue. A great Littlemill!

Very clearly a Littlemill despite the sherry. Hard to believe that it has been in first fill sherry for its whole life.

It beats the first release in my opinion, it has more body than that one. It doesn't beat the 1988 though. 90/91 points.
    • Nose
Porridge with caramel sauce, brown sugar and a pinch of cinnamon. Or maybe it's cruesli rather than porridge. A sour fruitiness like blood orange and grapefruit. A whiff of wooden pencils.
    • Taste
Blood orange, porridge, caramel and cranberry. Also grapefruit, which gets stronger when adding water. A little milk chocolate.
    • Finish
      Caramel, cereals, cranberry and citrus.

  39. Bishlouk scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

It is clearly a very good whisky. Balanced, fine, subtle, and quite complex. The sherry is present and obviously noticeable, but it is far from a big '' dark sherry '' that sticks to the teeth. The '' hic '', according to my personal criteria, is that I do not find enough (except in the nose, which is really top) the typical characteristics of Littlemill. Sherry has taken a little too much on the floral and herbaceous freshness that is required when I eat a Littlemill. 90/100 (for the pure quality of the whisky, but I hesitated with 89/100 for the lack of littlemill markers present for my taste).
    • Nose
Raisin, a light wood smoke, milk chocolate, black tea. After letting the dram breathe, a grassy freshness appears shyly at first, then progressively makes its way to the foreground. This nose becomes really attractive as aeration.
    • Taste
White grape liquor, dried apricot, brown sugar candy, gingerbread. Figs and dates candied at times. Some black fruits, and a hint of tobacco.
    • Finish
Average. An explosion of sweet spices, and a slight woody drought first. A spicy heat settles in the mouth, to stay there. A very fine woody bitterness at the end of the mouth.
