  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

A hot and zesty Clynelish with coastal influences.
    • Nose
Very astringent. Lots of lemon and lime. Zesty. Honey-lavender. Flowering currants. But at the same time artichokes and smoky notes. Some mint.
    • Taste
Punchy kick of salt and pepper. Kippery. Quite waxy as well. Lemon again. Ginger. Lightly peated. Barley sugar. Kelp. Anchovies.
    • Finish
Long. Nutmeg and clove. Cinnamon. Spearmint.

  2. Mannix65 scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Pleasant and typical - but not very spectacular
    • Nose
      86 86
First of all, the peppery alcohol stands out, followed by the typical waxy floral fruitiness of a Bourbon Clynelish
    • Taste
      86 86
The alcoholic pepperiness absolutely needs water - and its aromas can already be found in the mouth, plus dry oak, green melon, a hint of honey, pomelo and light grain meal
    • Finish
      85 85
medium long with a dry fruit sweetness

    Bright floral, fruity and mineral.
    • Nose
      88 88
Yellow apples, duchess, pears, vanilla. Minerality hits your nose like it's water and gas.
    • Taste
      88 88
The taste is sweet, yellow, rich, hot, but light.
    • Finish
      87 87
Sweet bright long aftertaste with mineral tones.

    • Nose
Bold, round, caressing, with honey (and a little wax). Some fresh fruits that unfortunately hide quickly. Malt emerges behind them.
With water, we gain a little lightness and the fruits reappear distinctly: peach and citrus fruits.
    • Taste
Nice spicy attack! Subtle fruits with spices that swirl in the mouth. Thick, velvety, syrupy texture.
With water, you gain little pepper with some citric notes, even losing a little of this thickness that seduced me sometimes.
    • Finish
Final frank and spicy, consistent with the above.
With water, spices become a little too present.

      I did not get bored!
      Enthusiasm
      Nose 3/5 (4/5 with water)
Palate and final 4/5 (3/5 with water)

      Whisky n ° 1920

Clynelish Cask Strength 57,3% is a very interesting whisky. Nose: perfume, vanilla, cake, cream brûlée, fruits, dry wood and tomato halm notes. Palate: sweet fruits, red apples, dust, dryness, spices and wood notes. Finish: long and sweet with vanilla, spices, sweet fruits, cake and wood notes. It’s a tasty and sweet, easy drinkable in spite of high strength.

Young, simple but good, you really don't feel the high abv
    • Nose
      Fresh, lemony, limestone, wet hay
    • Taste
Oily, lemony, hay, malty, good sweetness
    • Finish
Medium long, smooth, a bit more on green fruits

N: Between 8-10 years old and bourbon only, theres some huskiness, ozone and spongy citrus. Straight-ahead [simple] in comparison to the standard 14yo.
T: Very pleasing bourbon vibe and soft on the palate. Quite savoury at first then with a clean acute, lemon drizzle>chocolate cake.
    F: True vanilla finish.
C: Nice enough but not nearly as memorable as the  Brora tour.Scores a C[+]

a lot of things going on in this one. spices, salt, waxiness - add a few Drops of water and this whisky opens up quite nicley. very intense Clynelish but the high ABV does its trick.
