    A very nice, strong and fresh Glenlivet. Powerfull and warming without being disturbing, some nice sweet and fresh notes. Very pleasant.

      Very sweet, floral, citrus, like a lemon detergent. Also some vanilla sweetness.

  5. ffmdino did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    a bourbon sow
    a cool malt that I liked very much
    complex that develops beautifully with time and water
    the malt wants and needs water !!
    • Nose
      fresh, very flowery, light oak, vanilla and more until it is really full !!, pear, toffee, coconut, sweetness becomes stronger, the alcohol tingles

      with water: marzipan, pears, even more vanilla, raspberries, slightly grassy, slightly earthy
    • Taste
      full and strong on the palate
      Vanilla, caramel, spicy, oak, light malt, slightly sweet, the alcohol is noticeable

      with water: fruity (bright and exotic fruits), very sweet (good not too strong!) then becomes very spicy and bitter (Virgin Oak in play?)
    • Finish
      long

      Oak and old liquorice

      with water: tart, pastries with icing

    An underated whisky! Honest full and strong 60 abv cask strength ex-Bourbon, no more no less is what you get with this whisky. Leaves you in awe after the first sips!
    Needs some air though and don't hesitate to experiment with some water :)

    Nadurra = high%, no dye, no cooling filtration!
    A really good Ex Bourbon Cask Malt!

    [Color gold;
    • Nose
      Citrus fruit, pear, lime, sweetness;
    • Taste
      diluted: really sweet sweet pear, aromatic, voluminous, malty, light vanilla on the palate;
    • Finish
      mid-length finish, citrus-fruity finish;

    Good whisky but lacking complexity.
    • Nose
      86 86
      Fresh apple slices, bag of candy with mostly apple drops. With time it’s unripened bananas, building vanilla fudge and hard toffees.
      With water there’s fresh floral aromas and a little honey.
    • Taste
      82 82
      The 60.2% abv is at the forefront!
      Vanilla, toffee and lots of ginger spice. With water the palate becomes quickly diluted and loses the sweeter notes.
    • Finish
      83 83
      Hot with lots of ginger and new oak.
      Water brings some control to the spice and reveals floral notes.

    86/87.
    • Nose
      Mainly vanilla pudding and apple. A bit of tree resin, getting stronger with a drop of water. Later a malty touch.
    • Taste
      Vanilla, orange, apple, honey, caramel and a little pine. Water releases a light tad of smoke.
    • Finish
      Vanilla, apple and tangerine.

    For me this is the only Glenlivet that keeps on being interesting.
    • Nose
      w/o water - heavy, complex sweetness. Over-ripe fruit basket: banana, red apples, pear. Peppery alcohol.
      w/ water - even more heavy sweetness as in pastry. Chocolate fondant. Hint of Vapo Rub.
    • Taste
      w/o water - sweet arrival. Dark fruit and chocolate development, covered with alcohol.Gingery heat.
      w/ water - a short but sweet fruit arrival. Long juicy citrus fruits development.
    • Finish
      w/o water - bitter citrus finish
      w/ water - A long sweet citrus finish
