The smell represents age and maturity, the sherry barrel is clearly recognizable, but not dominant.
These impressions continue in the mouth, on the roof of the mouth and in the throat. A sherry whisky in a more classic style, old with expressive wood notes. Not a whisky for those with a sweet tooth, but a pleasure for me.
    • Nose
The first impression is very spicy and reminds me of barbecue spices, plus a sweet and heavy fruit note, cherry, plum, old wood, liquorice
    • Taste
Dry, astringent approach, slight spiciness on the tongue, wood dominates, but there is hardly any bitterness, liquorice, oak, fruits in the background, dark with only a little sweetness, dried fruit, some dried herbs, malt
    • Finish
dark chocolate fills the mouth, wood, now also a bit of bitterness, cherries and again dried herbs, very malty

with water: it becomes even rounder and softer

Conclusion: the malt just needs time and some water, then he is really nice round, at the beginning I was really disappointed, but behind the other he convinced with many interesting notes, everything well integrated and harmonious
    • Nose
Orange, dried fruit, a few shelled almonds, the alcohol is not particularly well integrated, but stands out with white pepper in the nose, toffee, spicy oak (some cinnamon and nutmeg), blackberry, cocoa, raisins, with some life and neat air and hand warmth he calms down in the glass, much darker notes, tobacco, cocoa, the stinging is gone, candle wax, blood orange
    • Taste
subtle sherry with tobacco, dried fruit, some leather and some oak tones
    • Finish
long, here now a lot of marzipan and almond flavors, cherry, the wood is there, but not dominant

In itself a typical Aberlour with some small corners and edges. The 49.7% are clearly felt, but water and time are definitely good for him.
    • Nose

Very classic Aberlour. Lemon, a lot of (dark) orange, some cinnamon, light spices (goes in the direction of anise), acacia honey and a noticeable alcoholic sting.
He definitely needs time and the alcoholic sting comes back with water.
    • Taste

Significant spiciness, the sweetness is still, but the spice suppresses almost everything and even gets spicy. As you can see the almost 50%. It stays with a lot of orange, lemon and coniferous forest. Again, water helps.
    • Finish
      85 85
      Fruity, intense, medium long.
The flesh of the orange is spreading. He is strongly reminiscent of this non-alcoholic mulled wine at the Christmas market (not to the Kinderglühwein from the bottle). Also spicy, but also juicy and salivary. Minimal vanilla.

Classic sherry. Not overly intense barrel after 22 years. Good balance. Nose still fairly fresh sherry. Raisins and light wood tones. Slightly nutty with a chocolate and dried fruit. Very light vanilla. Taste puts notes in the nose, somewhat late abv seems through. Pleasant classic sherry without being a sherry bomb with a long warm finish. Little tannin present.

A great Aberlour, this one has got the full package!!
    • Nose
Lots of dried fruit (raisins, sultanas, a gentle touch of sherry, well balanced between the sherry and the other aroma's
    • Taste
Smooth, gentle, creamy, spicy, sherry dryness, mouth warming
    • Finish
Woodspices, warming but medium in length

  8. MasterOfPuppets scored this whisky 87 points Expert Junior

A nice, spicy sherry whisky. I would guess he was lying in a 2nd fill barrel. Clear recommendation on my part.
    • Nose
Red fruits, sweet apple, nuts, a little nutmeg, slightly sour
    • Taste
Sherry, oak, clove, morello cherries, espresso, dark chocolate
    • Finish
      Medium long, spicy

Yes, this one too is a tasty drop. No sherry bomb, rather dainty and balanced, but for God's sake, not to be described as boring.
    • Nose
Sweet but at the same time accompanied by a pleasant acidity; Mirabelle, yellow and fruity; Applesauce; a little caramel and vanilla; he spreads a slightly dusty appearance, behind it tenderly sulphurous; the fruity but always intense and deep; some honey opens up
    • Taste
Then creamy and supple in the mouth; again the honey; full and beautiful sweet fruits consisting of red apples, overripe pears and a little gooseberry; walnuts; a touch of white pepper could still be there ...
    • Finish
Now on the finish a nice dark chocolate; slowly changes into a nice, sweet Fruchtmus; a pinch of wood; slightly semi-dry white wine and again the slightly dusty appearance

    Typical representative of a sherry-malts.
    • Nose
Initially glue and vinegar, but evaporates quickly. Then the sherry flavors get the upper hand: maple syrup, dark fruit (cassis, Bromberren, cherries). Dried fruit (raisins, sultanas). He has to stand a bit, but then unfolds very nicely. Sweet sherry, chocolate, cocoa, sweetish tobacco, spicy oak. Fruity, tart and sweet, not overly voluminous and overflowing sherry flavors, well balanced, 44 points.
    • Taste
Full bodied, oily consistency. At first he behaves slowly, mainly rumrosines, freshly brewed coffee, maple syrup, forest honey, sweet sherry and cocoa / bitter chocolate. Dry-tart-sweet, 44 points.
    • Finish
      Sweet, sour-dry-dry, coffee.

  11. Shargal scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Today without water, but depending on the daily form, he also tolerates a few drops with his almost 50%.
    • Nose
First citrus / green apple. It is followed by caramel sweetness and the Oloroso comes through with darker fruits. Alcohol and oak flavor. Everything at a height, nothing is dominant.
    • Taste
Slightly oily, sweet and Olorosot, so dark fruits. Pfeffriges bizzeln on the tongue. Oak spice comes, neat but for me still on the spicy espresso page. Not too bitterly dominant. What the nose promised can be found here again.
    • Finish
Gets warm in the throat for a while, but it's gone pretty fast. In the mouth remains a light peppery bizzeln and a pleasant espresso. The sweetness is still there.
