The taste experience begins with a dreamy nose. The taste of the Arran with this wonderful blend of spicy wood, bitter leather and sharp dried tobacco leaves. A great Arran from a Port Cask. I love the Maltman bottlings, they are always special!
    • Nose
Subtle and slightly tart fruity aroma dominates the first impression. The fruit becomes more intense over time, the alcohol content of almost 50% is noticeable. Dark berries mingle with malty sweetness. Full-fruity cherries penetrate through the now heavy fruit, a subtle leather note comes out. I can barely feel enough on the nose, the salivation is massively stimulated!
    • Taste
The first sip is dominated by a tart fruitiness, which immediately turns into sweet fruit. Spicy notes of wood, a touch of tobacco and wet leather mix to a very pleasant aroma. A slight sharpness arises and harmonizes wonderfully with the spicy wood and the tart leather or tobacco flavors. At the end of the taste, cold espresso is poured over the oak.
    • Finish
The finish begins with this wonderful blend of spicy wood, tart leather and sharp dried tobacco leaves. Again and again, sweet fruit flavors sparkle, creating a wonderful walnut flavor. With a subtle bitter wood notes, the medium-long finish ends.

  2. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Saulecker, no idea what it cost, would have to be from the chat party bus, thanks Dectel!
    • Nose
very dry, spicy, almost dusty, old wood, dried basil, leather, pleasant sharpness, feels more than 50%; with some water then burnt sugar and plum jam, more leather
    • Taste
Plum jam, sugar beet syrup, Storck giants, Sachertorte, wood, leather, tobacco ... delicious!
    • Finish
      s. Taste, sounds very comfortable, then remains a warm, dry sharpness

It's not that easy to rate. He comes up with a sweet but slightly alcoholic nose and shows more savory spicy notes in the taste / finish. All in all, solid and tasty, especially if you're on port, but there are better port maturities.
    • Nose
Oh, the alcohol is already quite noticeable, sugared fruit, looks very sweet and malty, plums, blueberries raisins (as always), heavy and very sweet dark fruits, a little oak, at first I had no typical port wine but rather towards PX -Sherry, but with time they come more clearly. I also find a fresh herbal side, if only discreetly, with honey and sugar beet syrup, milk chocolate, a short touch of cinnamon, fruit jam, that goes on forever, very complex. In the second nose, the alcohol is completely gone and honey-sweet vanilla and caramel are more apparent.
    • Taste
initially sweet, then clear dark port fruits, quite distinct oak, espresso, chocolate, leather, tobacco, in the end again very sweet, light strawberry note
    • Finish
continues the taste, oak, bitter chocolate, dark fruits but less than in taste, leather, tobacco, medium-long, the palate sticks something. Sweet, slightly buttery-malty, quite complex on the finish, I like it

    Conclusion:
    91/100 points - "delicious Port-Cask Whisky - PLV-Kracher!"
This great Arran offers with a very good PLV of (at the time of issue) about 90 € much to discover.
You get a very complex whisky with a fantastic nose, a very good and multi-layered taste and a fitting finish.
    Great.

    • Nose
Here you get the full vanilla sweetness club, paired with aromas of fresh grapes and apple.
The Arran is very complex and hides notes of wet wood, earth and many dark fruits, all wrapped up in this present, dominant sweetness.
Slightly malty, caramel flavors in the background.
    • Taste
Less sweet than in the nose. This is where Port-Fass flavors come to the fore.
Many fruits and dry wood, integrated in a first dominant alcoholic sharpness, which decreases with some time in the desire.
This highly complex whisky offers a lot to discover: wood, grapes, vanilla, leather, tobacco, malt, caramel.
    • Finish
Medium to long finish with woody, dry notes of the port barrel.
Barely sweet, barely vanilla. Here dominates the barrel. Some salt and caramel.

An interesting Arran where I particularly like the leather and tobacco notes. All in all very tasty, although surprisingly not very fruity / sweet for a port barrel maturation.
    • Nose
      88 88
spicy; fruity-sweet; dark fruits; Forest fruits; Cherries; Caramel; delicate vanilla; a hint of herbs; Chocolate; in addition, pleasant wood notes resonate as a harmonious counterpoint
      - A very pleasant nose, where I would not have tapped on a port cask
    • Taste
      87 87
tart and fruity notes; Tobacco and leather flavors; Caramel; dark chocolate; spicy oak; a sharpness comes on but not yet disturbing
      - less fruity and more spicy in the mouth than in the nose
    • Finish
      86 86
slightly dry; delicate bitter-tart oak notes; Leather; some dark fruit; Dark chocolate
