An old tomato is desirable for me, this has the well-known profile, but the barrel was unfortunately not (more) very meaningful ... still good! Compared to the 26yo broker bottling just way too expensive and not nearly as good!
    • Nose
Old subtle tropical fruit flavors, very tender (barrel?)
    • Taste
      Again, these tropical aromas of lychee, pineapple and gooseberry, slightly sour oak, dry;
    • Finish
Earthy, dry, almost a little dirty, white wine?

Quite simple, but very good. Lots of summery flavour. Did I mention fruit?
    • Nose
Ripe and unripe orchard fruit, in a box of hay. Some malt, chalk
    • Taste
Sweet orchard fruit, and tropical fruit. Fruit chews. Some alcohol heat at 51%. Developing a little oak astringency
    • Finish
Sweets and fruits of all kinds continue, drying at the front and back of tongue

Tomatin 25 yo 1989/2015 (51.9%, Cadenhead, Authentic Collection)

    Colour: straw.

Nose: yippee yee yah! Or something like that. Total
easiness at first nosing, with a large bag of… of… I mean, say Danish
pastry and apricot-filled croissants. You can’t get any easier. Plus a
little mead, custard, and butterscotch. And some cut grass to keep it
    straight and standing.
With water: good, it’s the barley that comes out,
together with more earth, and a wee waxy feeling, between putty and

Mouth (neat): goodness, this is for kids! Perfect orange
lozenges, squash, wine gums, soda, drops, liqueurs, syrups, cakes,
bonbons, cordials, cocktails (that’ll do, S.)… and grass. Some pepper
and green tea are there to keep law and order, before it gets too…
    orangey.  Love this.
With water: same. Just the same. It’s not that it
doesn’t swim, it just would care about water.

    Finish: medium, as always
with Tomatin, but bright, citrusy, very easy. Love the grassy aftertaste
that prevents it from getting… really too easy.

    Comments: really
excellent. Goes down a treat. So, maybe a bit dangerous. SGP:551 - 89 points.

    Tomatin 1989-2015, 25 years, 51.9% alc.
    Bottler: Cadenhead
    Expansion: Bourbon Hogshead
    Region: Highlands, Scotland

    Limited to 204 bottles

Nose: Soft and fruity with a delicate sweetness reminiscent of forest honey. In addition, toffee, butterscotch and vanilla. Behind it comes the smell of the fair, roasted almonds and cotton candy, maybe even candied apple. Removes a little old wood.

Palate: Sweetish but almost fruitless. Reminiscent of the fair, syrup and honey and molasses. A delicate spicy note and a touch of oak wood mix. Very pleasant mouthfeel.

Finish: Medium to long, spices and caramel, slightly bitter oak and almonds.

Conclusion: very clear line with a great sweetness. For sweetbeaks and friends of slightly lower single malts a recommendation, even if it is not easy to see through.

    85/100 points (tasted 2015, approx. 200 €)
Thanks to Cadenhead's Berlin for the rehearsal!
