  1. Kensay scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

Powerful, solid and interesting, probably blindly confused with Laphroaig
    • Nose
      89 89
Extinguished campfire coals, mint, pine needles and eucalyptus, ripe exotic fruits covered with black pepper, gauze soaked in iodine, medical ointments
    • Taste
      89 89
Dry and pungent, and eucalyptus oil with pepper, mint and spices
    • Finish
      88 88
Pepper and persimmon lemons, dry wood, mint and menthol

    • Nose
      91 91
Dirty greens, celery, moss and asphalt. Heavily smoked preserved mustard, then melted cement, Indian jujubes and some dried dates. Also engine oil, tar, dirty cotton and a little bit of green apples. After more than 30min in the glass, roasted macadamia nuts, taro and white sesame. More yuba with dripping oil after a sip.
    • Taste
      88 88
Toffee to start, some citrus zest and rotten hami melons. Later on, celery, beetroots, black peppers and some kiwi, and mostly greens like wax gourd rind to finish up. White wall paint and yuba also.
    • Finish
      90 90
Paraffin, white pills, yuba, sugar-coated baked potato skin, beetroot, kiwi skin, not so smoky here but rather it showed long-lasting mellow toffee and red beans.

    Balance (22)
Very tasty, endless finish (89) blind tasting (well almost)
    • Nose
The aroma is dry, bread notes. Cowshed, spicy wood ... sour raw dough. The aroma is closed, it is felt that several layers are hidden. Eucalyptus?
    • Taste
Sweet fruits, ash with salt and machine oil, fried meat (22.5)
    • Finish
Oily finish, iodine, ash and vanilla with fruit .... peppermint gum (23)

  7. hs305 scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

[November, 2011] Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 60 Euro in September, 2011.

    In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 90. My notes state "bold and impressive".
