- Body: softer.
More mellow and rounded, soft, and restrained. Sophisticated and with a sherry character.
Nutty. A hint of peat. Middle long.
- Official notes:
"Glenfiddich Ancient Reserve is sublimely mellow, acquired over the long maturation in Oloroso sherry and traditional bourbon casks.
Tasting notes: An elegant nose, with scents of apple and wood. It is robust and full-bodied, yet remarkably mellow. It has a slightly sweet palate, perfectly balanced by subtle oak and a delicate maltiness."
a tender cinnamon and nutmeg spice aroma, with more honey and a touch of oak.
a lovely tropical fruity flavour in the mouth; lychee and mangoâ€
a smooth, soft sherried finish.
orange and passionfruit, oak, spices (undefined)
All in the nose, plus good chewy malt and a nice background of vanilla
longer than the 12 or 15. Sweet and satisfying.
- Balanced and pleasant to the nose, sweet fruits (apples?). A balanced full-bodied delight on the palate. Strong, yet soft with a fruity sweetness and the oak on the palate. A pleasant long finish decides the experience.
- After the name change in Glenfiddich 18 years, the former Glenfiddich 18 years Ancient Reserve has filed this addition. This was accompanied by a change in the equipment (labels, tube).
In autumn 2009, Glenfiddich once again made a close call that the equipment of the Glenfiddich changes, this time also with a bottle.
This change has taken place and lo and behold, the Glenfiddich 18 years is suddenly carrying a batch number! (On the picture in red under the 18 to see).
The batch number refers to: "Glenfiddich malted." The 18 year old whisky comes through on the intricate labels.
