In my opinion, relatively few dark fruits are perceptible for a sherry butt. Tropical fruits and intense orange or mandarin aromas dominate the nose. Spicy and finely tart wood completes the taste experience. A water addition is not advisable despite 56.3% alcohol content. Otherwise, the Ben Nevis is a tasty droplet!
    • Nose
Despite sherry butt relatively little sherry influence, but a lot of cherry and tangerine flavors. Tropical fruits like mango and ... again a hint of tangerines. Now subtle sherry pushes through the fruit. The relatively high alcohol content is wonderfully integrated, a light summer freshness is spreading. Fine creamy sweetness completes the fruity nose.
    • Taste
The first sip is immediately dominated by a creamy sweetness. Intense Sherry with dark fruits and spicy wood follows the caramel sweetness. After a short moment, a pleasant tingling and bizzling, fine-sour oak is trying to prevail against an intense orange aroma. A hint of licorice comes through the fruit and fine espresso notes emerge. Actually, this Ben Nevis needs no water, but I now add a few drops of water. However, the addition of a few drops of water reduces the fruity aroma and makes the oak tart and bitter.
    • Finish
The finish begins with a slight sharpness. Again bizzling and tingling on the tongue. The fruit of the taste is present, but is over-painted by tart and spicy oak. A light espresso note lies over the finish.

    Blind Tasting.
    • Nose
Mundwässernd. Tropische Früchte und Cola. Mango,
Passionsfrucht, Maracuja.

Dabei stark,
aber nicht stechend. Genau mein Ding. Nicht jung.

      Achtung, verträgt nicht viel Wasser.
    • Finish
Volle Eichenwürze, etwas Karamell, Kaffee, Spuren von Sherry und Honig. Lecker!

On the nose, explosion of various and diffuse scents on the old wood, on the fruits (compote of red fruits, marmalade), then scent of musty, tannin, leather, broom apple, with again the wood which oozes d an old cellar!
    • Nose
old fruit, macerated, cooked vanilla, strong spices, boiled almond and sodden wood from an old barrel.
      alcohol is present.

The flavor and complexity are great, this Nevis has matured with dignity, while the sherry butt has been beautifully active. With 1-2 drops of water, the fruits come out more clearly.
    • Nose
      92 92
Old stamp gum, creme brulée, some camphor, fresh chamomile blossom, when I sink my trunk deeper into the snifter, then rum pot with plums and lots of cinnamon and finally meat broth that is poured over honeycombs (I know that from Craigellachie 23). : Fantastic nose that keeps changing.
    • Taste
      91 91
Juice oranges with Cointreau, tingling, ripe apricots, also citron confit are in there. Sour tingling - a sensational synapse tango that the ripe fruits create
    • Finish
      90 90
LONG - and with the same sweet flavor that distinguished the nose and the palate. Very consistent and yet changing.

    I liked
    a black currant hammer !!
    an "old" sherry malt
    the finish can't keep up
    it is complex and challenging
a work painter who wants his time and has to chew on
    • Nose
old oak, sherry becomes more, a little sulfur, a little raisins, a little musty, earthy becomes stronger, rubber, a note that I cannot name, leather, a little tobacco, a mix of berries from which black currant emerges
with water: Sherry !!!, musty, slightly rotten, lots of berries, musty oak, damp cardboard comes, slightly orange, lemon
    • Taste
full and strong on the palate, it has a boom
Oak becomes stronger, spicy, heavy sherry, slightly raisins, you can tell the alcohol, tart / bitter, again berries with a lot of black currant
with water: softer, sherry, more currant, light ash, becomes very spicy
    • Finish
Musty oak, old sherry, bitter, spicy, tart, good black currant again
with water: musty oak, sherry, light leather

      astringent, pulls on the gums
