It starts with the 12 series. The smoke is rather special, but not overly strong. The smoke goes in the herbal direction with slight rubber notes. The fruits are rather fresh. Meadow fruit. Flowery notes and floral honey.
The herbs and especially the rubber notes are stronger in the mouth. First a lot of sweetness. White tea with a lot of sugar candy. Then it gets a bit tart and wood seasoning begins. Some liquorice too.
Now the 22. Compared to the 12, the 22 has more barrel influence. The fruits are mandarin, candied lemon and ginger. I like the smoke better on the 22er. It does not have these rubber notes, but the herbs have a higher quality. In addition, something like coniferous forest. Overall looks more harmonious and yet more intense than the 12er.
The 12er is somehow funny and interesting due to its special smoke. The sample is enough for me.
The 22 looks overall more balanced. Quite decent whiskey. It does not trigger a buying stimulus for me.
