- What a lovely
Tullibardine. Extra point for originality. I am pleasantly surprised by the
complexity of this young whisky. But it needs quite a bit of water, in my book.
Not even 50 EUR. Recommended!
Holy shit, WTF!?!
Excuse my French, but this nose is simply weird. But in a very pleasant way.
White bread, yoghurt with apricots, sweet malt and a hint of nougat. Loads of
garden herbs in the mix. Rosemary and cardamom. The white bread dominates and
evolves after a while to – do not laugh – mashed potatoes. Truly! Water makes
it a lot sweeter, like candy, but also somewhat farmy. I kid you not, I am
reminded of goat skin. Weird!
It is hot on the
palate. Peppery and very, very punchy. A kick to the teeth. I need to gulp in
some air! Sweet, herbal and it definitely needs water. Then I (finally) get a
fruity marmalade of peach, apricots and yellow plums. It does remains very
herbal and spicy, though.
The finish is long
and spicy and even becomes somewhat creamy, like butter.
- Tullibardine and 7 years old isn't something to advertise with, but this is very entertaining. Don't bother with ratings because this is special and to your liking or not at all.
Very unusually straight from the first wiff, but it becomes normal after a while.
Wet barley, toast and baked bread. Sour fruit like cherries, yoghurt (that's a first for me) and cottage cheese with red forrest fruit. I did a tasting and after another whisky I also got lots of butter, brioche and scones. Ain't that special?
Very herbal and spicy. Blackberriejam. Herbs from the garden and peper. Cardamon.
Evolves into a more balanced whisky with more standard sweetness like vanilla.
Nicely sweet on buttery cream.
- This was a total surprise. An 8 year old whisky with such a complexity and balance! Wow! Absolutely unusual taste. If you get the chance: try it!
