Nose: First of all, a "primeval-breath" rises in your nose. We had never seen such an aged smell on any whiskey. But by no means dusty or sucked, but with a lot of momentum and pep! A fragrance blend of ancient, dried peat bales, dark, fruity berries, toffee, butter, vanilla bars, fuse, gunpowder, spicy, red peppercorns, charcoal, pencil and orange peel with a hint of elderberry. Very aromatic and fascinating - to the knee!
Taste: Creamy, round and delicious! At the beginning equal full seasoning with an overhang of salt. Fruity-sweet with ripe berries, creamy honey, vanilla (crème brûlée) and rich leather notes. After a while getting smokier and pepperier. Even slightly tart, but wonderfully integrated wood comes to light, which melts with notes of elderberry juice on the tongue. This delicate tartness makes the blend drier and more straightforward towards the finish. During the transition, notes of nuts and almonds crystallize out.
Finish: Long, fruity-sweet and incredibly smoky. Delicate tart strikes that are in perfect harmony with the fruit component. Again it is nuts, almonds, vanilla, leather, tobacco and sweet, peaty smoke that stick to your tongue and reverberate for a long time.
Remark: From top to bottom just great! No "turbo lag" or other false tones. The 60 years bottle rest you notice the whiskey in terms of power and flavor by no means. Continuously salty-peppery-smoky until the end.
