Whisky Reviews for Arran 1996 MoS

    Great stuff!
    • Nose
At the beginning, very clear lime, under which vanilla pushes, the Arran ginger brings an additional pungent on the nose, mineral and maritime, fine spices and a touch of olive oil, orange syrup
    • Taste
Very creamy, then comes a nice pepperiness, oily, again thick oranges, the oak is very mild but brings the necessary spiciness
    • Finish
The ginger dominates the finish initially, thick creamy vanilla sticks to the palate, already warming and long, slightly dry

A 19 year old Arran from a sherry hogshead. What do you expect? You will be satisfied. Its gentle, fresh, balanced, fruity and sweet. For my very personal taste a little bit to round and smooth. The mixture of sherry and arran shows some unusual tastes that reminds me of licorice. I love extraordinary tastes in whiskies and therefore i like this one! Thanks to Thomas Ewers for letting us bottle this one :-)

I don't seem to find what a lot of people see in this bottling. It's mature and well-balanced, no doubt about that. But on the other hand, I remember younger OB Single Sherry Cask bottlings that have presented a more various and open profile.
A matter of taste, as always...

    The Warehouse Dram No. 7

... was out of stock as soon as it was released!
That was probably due to the fact that this Arran himself "non-Arran friends" inspired!

Arran was founded in 1994 and started firing in 1995.
Thus, this Arran is one of the first barrels ever. Wonderfully balanced and an absolute PLV-Kracher!
In the OA area, nobody could inspire me as much as this one.
