Some confusing connection to a legend on the box; probably chill-filtered for lack of a different name; no age information. Supposedly intended for travel retail, in the end you can get it from any good retailer... Not a particularly good starting point for me given my experience. And then virgin oak, once an absolute no-go: Quite sweet at the beginning and then this unused oak barrel dominates with a clear bitterness. Very short finish due to young age and sherry cask influence. Are you doing yourself a favor by selling these rather simply knitted but eccentric goods to the passengers? The connoisseurs are probably a little disappointed and newcomers will probably not exactly take this drop down their sleeve. Or does it? Somehow I don't hear that much from Glenmorangie anymore, unfortunately.

    - a very harmonious and drinkable Glenmorangie
    - pleasant fruit aromas in smell and taste
    - seems a bit "thin" in character
    • Nose
light, fresh and fruity, sweet sherry, oak (the fruity side predominates), some liquorice
    • Taste
Soft, fruity attack, grapes, fresh, floral, sweet sherry, subtle oak, it becomes dry when you swallow it
    • Finish
      soft medium-length finish ;
medium-long fruity, slightly bitter aftertaste, becoming dry

Very nice combination of fruity sweetness and great oak flavor. Immediately makes you want more.
    • Nose
Very sweet, dark fruits and some marzipan. A hint of vanilla and a hint of pear. In the background, nutty, cinnamon and light spice.
    • Taste
At first again very sweet with dark fruits and very soft. Then increasing, very pleasant flavor and again the marzipan. Some chocolate.
    • Finish
Sweet fruits and oak spice alternate. The marzipan is back too.

Pretty light in the nose, some light sherry, a bit of pepper, vanilla and honey. Acceptable dram, but not a wow-factor

A soft, delicious and good Glenmorangie, in the liter bottle and at a reasonable price!
    • Nose
      soft, fruity, (pear, peach, berries), honey, vanilla;
    • Taste
      mild, soft onset, fruity, sherry aromas, caramel, toffee, increasingly spicy, peppery, slightly dry;
    • Finish
      medium length, fruity finish; slightly bitter in the finish, oak;

Not a bad Glenmorangie, much more tasty than 10 yo. Quite well balanced (but a bit on the oaky side) although feels somewhat young. Easy going and can be a good daily dram if the purchase price is around 50 euros.
    • Nose
Fresh, sultanas, vanilla, red berries, oranges, some honey notes, cinnamon, a bit of dark chocolate
    • Taste
Slightly sweet, fruity (apricots, yellow apples), spicy (peppers, ginger), black currant notes, burnt caramel, some bitterness
    • Finish
Short, sweet, oaky and slightly bitter, walnut shells, notes of malt

In the taste very appealing, the nose could be better. But still nice whisky

In the first impression a bit weak or not immediately recognizable.
Some wood a fruitiness with a touch of honey. Somehow, every now and then a note of sulfur comes through
      The second glass of apricot
    • Taste
      85 85
Yes, now clearer sherry with a nice sweet (milk chocolate) paired with some black pepper and slight bitterness
    • Finish
      83 83
Mouth filling with light spice ... medium long

Nothing special or worth buying. It's drinkable, but there are way better choices.
    • Nose
A light and young start. Grass and hay. Green banana and yellow apples . More caramels and milky chocolate paste later on.
    • Taste
More sherried on the palate. Raisins and some plums. Toffee, cream and some chocolate.
    • Finish
Just too light, short and boring.

    • Taste
Citrusy, lemony, subtle sweetness, a bit liquorice too

Refined and elegant, though a bit thin. But finally a good PX + Virgin Oak pairing.
    • Nose
Fruity: banana, apple, pear and tangerine. Caramel and spicy oak.
    • Taste
Creamy. Plum jam, raisin, sherry, milk caramel, spicy oak and touch of salted minerals.
    • Finish
      Medium length, fruity, spicy.

A pretty uninspired Glenmorangie. As with so many of the Legends series, the nose is very promising. The aroma is then followed by the divine disillusionment - 12.01.2018
    • Nose
Very youthful nose, wax, almond, raisins, overripe banana, caramel, white chocolate, vanilla sugar, brown sugar, clove
    • Taste
Slightly cooling, first impression very watery texture becomes oily with time, some caramel, bitter almond, floury, spicy, oak aroma, bitterness stays behind
    • Finish
      Short

    [November, 2015]  Finally I emptied a bottle that I bought for 84 Euro in April, 2015.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 82,5.  My notes state a slightly bitter and unbalanced profile that I did not like.

A nice sherry whisky that is not too complicated.
    • Nose
Strong sherry notes, kirsch. Spices that remind of a single pot still. Beautiful tobacco and leather notes. A very intense and heavy nose.
    • Taste
On the tongue he starts very complacent with almonds and hazelnuts. In addition strong vanilla flavor. Yes, but more flavor than real vanilla. Fresh wood and toffee are on the tongue. A little later, a fine, yet sweet chocolate note is added, a bit like Nutella.
    • Finish
Slightly dry in medium-length finish with oaky spice, vanilla and spices.

  22. Segens scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Quite a good dram for people that start the whisky career as it is very decent simple so no complexity but still nice. The sweetness and juiciness is nice but of course I personally miss some percentage of alcohol in this dram which would be more powerful and also some complexity.
    • Nose
Glenmorangie often called the most elegant distillery. There is some elegance in the nose mainly oak but quite balanced. A decent sweetness of juicy fruits like oranges & mandarines. Expectation was not high so I am positively surprised on the nose
    • Taste
A decent caramel sweetness is in the mouth with some oak influence which is not bitter. Very simple so easy to drink but I like it!
    • Finish
The caramel is now a bit stronger and I finally have the PX influence (where I would have thought that it is more red wine than sherry but Ok) as some dark fruits carry the dram to my stomach. A bit of oaky bitterness but really only decent so the dram remains positive.

There are quite some notes in there that I like, but it all makes quite an artificial impression. Probably a trick with short maturation in very active casks.
    • Nose
Banana, pear, caramel, cherry and pastry.
    • Taste
Brown banana, pear, vanilla pudding, orange, caramel, peach, almond, malt and nutmeg.
    • Finish
Fried banana, vanilla, caramel and musty old chestnuts.

Nice mixture of nice Sherry influence and young oak, but lacks a bit of Glenmorangie character.
    • Nose
Really nice, medium sherry flavors, nutty, slightly spicy, lots of vanilla and caramel (from the Virgin Oak Casks?), Really intense and full. However, the typical Glenmorangie flow does not come through. Too bad.
    • Taste
pleasant but full-bodied onset, lots of rosy chocolate, some spice and dark honey. Delicious!
    • Finish
      medium length, sherry and oak.

The Duthac comes with a strong, dark amber-like color with a slightly reddish sting in the glass. In the nose is initially a slight sharpness. But then dark fruits and a light sherry note are added. The aromas of dark chocolate and almond are joined by a light bitter note. Also in the mouth shows first a slight chilli-sharpness. Then sherry and a definite sweetness are added. Vanilla and orange notes are also to be found. Then comes a slight bitter component into play. The sharp note fades into the background with time. The finish is rather short and revives the strong notes from the mouth feeling again briefly.
You can expect more from a Glenmorangie at such a price. The Duthac is not uncomfortable, but a bit flat. Maybe the percentage of very young whisky is a bit too high?

  32. Hemdl scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

Somewhere in the context of this whisky (I think so) I leave the sentence: "Buy the story, the whisky is free."
Well, you can hardly formulate it better in the reason. After the very good Taghta, who convinced me despite missing age, the Duthac can not even approximate it. There is a lot missing, just not at the price. Pity!
    • Nose
It takes an extremely long time in the glass to develop its aroma.
Acts in the beginning of the glass very young and unbalanced, even sprittig and immature. As time goes by, the typical floral notes come to the fore. The sprightly note vanishes, and the influences of the sherry barrels now come through and ensure a certain fruitiness.
Compared to the nose of Glenmorangie Taghta, whom I consider very good, but a bitter disappointment.
    • Taste
Light sweetness, followed directly by a noticeable sharpness, but which is not attributable to alcohol. Pepper? Ginger? Then already a slightly bitter / spicy note that was not to be expected. First-fill barrels should not have been in use here many.
    • Finish
Significantly noticeable bitterness, slightly dry finish. The previously perceived sweetness barely to guess here.

He is not worth his money. (April 2015 bought for Euro 85.-)

For me, it tastes as if everything they wanted to get out of Glenmorangie, especially young barrels, just turned over.
Then a little more sherry and ready.

The nose is hesitant and does not really develop.

In the taste like the 10-year-old. Pfeffrig, sprittig young, a little Glenmorangie with sherry influence and Basta, much more is not there.

The finish is dry and relatively short. He remains dry and bitter in my memory.
