You can complain about the price, about the malt not. Very nice, as the notes of exotic fruits and the mild smoke unite. The 43% are just right.
    • Nose
The 15YO surprised at the beginning with a relatively mild peat note. The otherwise typical for Laphroaig phenolic-medical grade is weak. The smoke is subtle and mild and dresses notes of grapefruit and blood orange. As soon as the nose has become accustomed to the smoke and the peat, the fruit note intensifies and remains for a long time. Over time, notes of old leather, tobacco and old oak planks come.
    • Taste
Creamy and mouth-filling onset. Slightly oily. Grapefruit again, with lemon jelly. Mild seasoning of pepper and nutmeg. Slightly peaty, earthy, loamy. Fantastically fine mild smoky note, which is present for a long time.
    • Finish
Drying in the medium long finish.

Quite sharp! Phenolic and harsh at first, in a way that makes me think it's higher proof than it is. Underneath though, classic sweet-savory Laphroaig notes. // Vanilla notes come in strong, gorgeous sweet-strong smoky notes.

Soft and surprisingly sweet despite the nose. Some red fruit and meaty smoke. // Again, oak and vanilla sing as the smoke dies down a bit. Still great, but very different.

Nose: for a Laphroaig, a mild medical peat smoke, iodine, blood orange, vanilla and a pleasant mint note

Flavor: sweet with caramel and grapefruit, light spiciness (pepper) and leatheriness, nice maritime, a little vanilla, in the mouth the peat flavors are more subtle

Finish: medium, great combination of smoke and sweet fruit

It tastes like someone has distilled a smoky banana wheat. ;-)
Delicious part, could use a slightly higher alcohol content for my personal taste.
    • Nose
Pleasant, maritime smoke trail. Sweet vanilla first. And then very clearly: banana!
    • Taste
Ashy smoke. Mild impression. Pleasantly sweet and fruity.
    • Finish
Medium length. Mild. Sweet and smoky.

I was really disappointed with this - weak, with minimal peat. Smelled great on first opening the bottle, but sadly it was all downhill from there.

    Trichlorophenylmethyliodosalicyl ridden bottle.

This wine is a very good interpretation of the definition of elegant style, Islay Island's peat whisky, do not need to be violent and sharp, can also express their style perfectly, although only 43% alcohol, but soft but not weak , very advanced work.
    • Nose
      90 90
Pouring wine, smoky smoke and iodine, soft and elegant, sweet caramel, cool sea breeze, reef on the beach, a hint of oak, vanilla, creamy chocolate, lemon cake.
    • Taste
      89 89
Entrance, soft smoke, orange juice sour and sweet, fruit hard candy, a little lime taste, light salty taste like shellfish juice, soft, but enough strength to support the overall flavor expression.
    • Finish
      88 88
Long aftertaste, light smoke, sweet and sour orange juice, sea salt, nuts.

I thought it was very good stuff really, punching well above its weight on the palate. Head and shoulders above many modern sweet camphor-driven Laphroaigs that we see by the dozen in the IB's stocks these days. Classy stuff and a rather sublte profile feeling kind of old school.
    • Nose
      88 88
Subtle start. Vase water, pink ham, light mint, subtle medicinal touches. This is the antithesis of the usual in-your-face Laphroaig profile. The medicinal peat grows slowly, revealing bitter pink grapefruit and mango, still with a minty and leafy side. Smoked salt. Not super exuberant but classy and displaying a definite touch of exotic fruit.
    • Taste
      90 90
This touch growing much bigger here, for the better. Super good palate, which feels above 43% and has perfect texture. Sweet cooked mango, a little banana, still that smoked salt feeling. Shifts to more medicinal grounds afterwards. Superb notes of aspargus on later sips.
    • Finish
      86 86
More on plain smoke and soot, with smoked citrus peels. Simple, not very long.
