Whisky Reviews for Balvenie 12-year-old

- Very young, fruity. A bit of an AnCnoc style - tasted blind I was not close to guess a Balvenie here. Nice whisky anyway. 88P in my book.
- A strong nose, otherwise quite a disappointment. Sucked barrels, poorly bound alcohol and a glutinous sugariness. That was nothing!
Notes from a blind tasting. Of course, it is an exhausted 1st-fill keg, even if that is a contradiction in terms ...
First apples and malt, after a short time vanilla, butter biscuits, panna cotta and some more light fruits. Takes the nose hard. Some mint, chocolate and nutty notes complete the nose. Heated, an association of chewing gum and pickled pears appear. Even later, the nose develops in the direction of musty notes.
Strong onset, slightly (too) alcoholic, with predominantly tart notes. Then a little vanilla and a slightly sugary sweetness, where he is absolutely not sweet.
The finish is very short and quite dry. The alcohol stops, and then it was. Only a little menthol remains slightly longer.
- Very enjoyable easy drinking whisky.
Notes of pineapple cream tarte and marshmallows at first nosing. Tropical fruit smoothie, candy floss, vanilla and grassy aromas. What a lovely nose.
Smooth and fresh at first mouthfeel. Starts very nicely, but afterwards it becomes a little bland. Notes of acacia honey and maple syrup as well as fruity aromas with vanilla. The fruits are mirabelles snd quinces I would say.
Short to medium long with notes of white pepper coming up. A little bit disappointing, because it is so short.
