a very direct malt, few, focused flavors. But I really like his straightforwardness. # # Blindtasting
    • Nose
fresh, slightly sour (citrus) and neat peat smoke.
    • Taste
strong, effervescent powder, lemon and a really heavy portion of peat
    • Finish
sweetish, some citrus, lots of peat, some ashes. Amazingly sweet towards the end.

  2. Torfding scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

The addition of a little water weakens the strong peaks and makes you feel good, the finish is a little shorter, but also more diverse. This Ledaig is certainly not for everyone, but has its typical corners and edges. But who likes them, is certainly not wrong.
    • Nose
the Ledaig cowshed is immediately there, as well as smoked bacon and of course peat smoke, a little chocolate and nuts as well as a touch of saltiness; overall a great aroma
    • Taste
does not come as hard as expected; the cowshed remains as well as smoked, in addition to herbs (or actually it is more in the direction of herbal sweets), slightly lemony and sweet
    • Finish
In the beginning herbal sweet, before the long finish becomes sweet, peaty and medicated, plus a little cocoa and a slight bitterness

N: Sort of a typical Ledaig nose, sweet and sour sea breeze, hazelnuts
later on peaches and caramelized pineapple.
It's on the edge of being unpleasant

P: Proper Peat, Herbs, Ricola candies, quite medicinal. Some Serrano ham and citrus.

F: Longish with a varity of smoked hams, a tad sweet with a lingering bitterness lingering in the back groundI quite like it but I can understand it is not for everyone.

... my personal expectations: The company Burns Stewart (Bunnahabhain, Deanston and Tobermory) needed money several years ago and sprinkled several barrels into the community of independent candidates ... so there have been so many Ledaig bottlings in recent years, especially in the period 2004/2005 ...
Bottles from the Mit-Ende1990ern were probably on the market at the moment, the whole thing is also a consequence of the price increases of Islay whisky. Ledaig is the peaty line of the Tobermory distillery on the island of Mull, similar to Port Charlotte or Octomore Bruichladdich's goal line is to make a comparison by the hair ...
... pretty much every guy I've had in my glass in the last few years was pretty horny, the boys a bit more violent, the older ones a bit more adult, almost like in real life ... Nose: ... jo ... ham, bacon, something rumsmoked in the smoker ... Could also be the stew that is up at table with mum ..., Tyrolean bacon comes to mind even, say, pretty smoky the matter... Taste: ... after this nose one expects more violent, but that only wants to play, is gentle, sweet and I must think of Eucalyptus sweets ... Vanilla and ... hmmm Citrus fruits ..., Oranges ... Above all lies of course, plenty of smoke, I could now also dentist and even mention medicine ... Finish: ... sweet, long ... smoky ham, with water, the whole thing is sweeter ..., the orange notes are slowly turning green, so bitter ... Conclusion: A typical representative of his guild, very nice, balanced for friends of the smoky faction in the Whisky Parliament, for me 85 points ...

    Herbs, smoke and medicine.
    Ledaig goes Laphroaig.
    Edged island whisky without compromise.
