  1. sagara-kun scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

A whisky that I will soon forget. He lacks a real character trait.
    • Nose
      87 87
Nose strong in alcohol for the presumed degree.
We are on the lemon confit with basil. Rather elegant.
      Aromatic herbs, thyme.
      Light wax, acacia honey.
We also have a frame of ... rice pudding with raisins.
To finish, a little raspberry Volvic mixed with a cold smoke.
    • Taste
      85 85
In the mouth it is more agreed and we do not find the power of the nose.
Citrus in general, with a predominance of lemon.
Always grassy on fresh cut grass and aromatic herbs. Thyme.
      Green wood, pineapple bark.
      A little heavy peat.
It lacks the shine and freshness that would blend all the aromas effectively.
    • Finish
      86 86
Final on smoke, lemon, cold tobacco.

Does this whisky have the "wow-factor"? No; I can't exactly say why I like this one so much - maybe because it tastes "uncommon", which gives it a bit of an extra. Tasted 20/04/2016 in a line-up of closed distilleries.
    • Nose
Candied sweetness at first, with grassy tones. Then tropical fruit (mango, very ripe pineapple, maybe even a hint of banana).
    • Taste
Creamy, butterscotch, honey, yet grassy. Also here the tropical fruitness coming forward after a while.
    • Finish
Warm, waxy and lingering at the roof of the mouth, almost sticky. Herbal hints.

    Colour: Dark golden.

Nose: Sweet, with a subtle citrus nose - fresh lemons. Some rum and raisin

    and hints of sherried wood.

Palate: Smooth and sweet - marshmallow. A rounded hint of spice develops,

    and becomes mouth warming.

Nose: Initial rum and raisin notes, with hints of sweet Sherry. Some subtle

summer fruits notes emerge and linger.

Palate: Smooth and silky, with a pronounced sweet Sherry edge. Mouth

warming with a hint of chilli warmth.

    Body: Medium.

    Finish: Long and complex.

    Cask Type(s): Refill Sherry casks.

    Whisky Style: Smooth and complex.

Very nice, fruity, balanced dram. A little bit oaky.

  5. tangtang scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Pleasant rather mild malt which at first glance would suggest that its aromas are more like bourbon maturation. Only after a lot of time in the air and if you leave it in your mouth for a long time, the sherry notes come through easily
    • Nose
aromatic old wood, for only 43% the alcohol is quite present, light honey, some dark fruits, vanilla, slight hint of citrus fruits. Looks very closed
    • Taste
Very soft start, sweet, fruity with rather light fruits, light sherry notes come through much later, vanilla, slightly spicy oak notes, malty, slightly creamy. Slightly bitter later
    • Finish
sweet with light soft sherry notes, later then citrus-fruity and slightly bitter Somewhat malty in the background

    • Nose
      91 91
unobtrusive and pleasant with aromas of wax, fine dry oak, somewhat fruity, light citrus nose, hint of sherry, toasted wood notes, hint of vanilla, subtle in appearance. Slightly tickles the nose.
    • Taste
      92 92
warm and slightly spicy-fruity-sweet, aromatic with warm notes of different woods, some orange, spices, dry oak, barrel / coffee notes.
Pleasant and slightly sweet, hint of raisins and sherry, hint of smoke. Balanced.
      Nicely matured and finely aged.
    • Finish
      89 89
At first barrel / coffee notes, then some oak, a hint of raisins and sherry, trace of smoke, slightly sweet-tart-sweetish lingering.

  8. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

I had feared the worst of the nose, at least that was revised in the mouth, but the rating only refers to the taste, if I included the nose, I would have to deduct a total of at least 2 points.
    • Nose
Almost never had such a dead nose with 1500 whiskys, almost non-existent, that's fascinating, a hint of lemon in the distance, plums, lemongrass and orange peel, but as if 1l of water was over it
    • Taste
Quite special, has a very vintage and yet silky mouthfeel, lots of apple with peel, lemon, tangerine, sweet malt, grasses, herb honey, lemon grass, slightly watered down ginger
    • Finish
Ginger, mint, malt, lemon peel, grapefruit, medium length
