Whisky Reviews for Linkwood 1989 MBl

2 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 85.13 points

  1. Albaron scored this whisky 86 points Specialist

There is a lot going on here. At first a very fresh "summer whisky", but then comes the barrel wort and a heavy oak. That makes him very exciting, but nothing for every day. Many flavors compete for supremacy but none wins. Nice, really good.
    • Nose
Apricot, mellow apple, baked apple, vanilla, honey, slightly oily and creamy, slightly sour, a light citrus in the background
    • Taste
The oily is more pronounced here, then vanilla, sour, the citrus freshness, which goes through the bitterness in the direction of grapefruit, then the kernels, some melon, the apricots, but only very gently, honey, then it is bitter and the oak beats full through, strong old dried wood and some pepper then passes into the finish
    • Finish
Pepper and the barrel wort comes more and more, even bitter it is still from the oak, but in between still the fruit sweetness and light honey notes

Conclusion: 89/100 points - "It's Summertime - Whisky". This Linkwood exudes summery ambience. Very fresh and fruity citrus flavors. A nice summer whisky. Uncomplicated and delicious. Not too sweet, not too complex, but nice fruity-fresh. Link to the tasting on my blog: http://www.tasting-notes.de/Archive/115
    • Nose
The slightly alcoholic nose exudes fruity-fresh aromas of lime zest, orange, some grapefruit and pineapple. Overall, an acid fruity cocktail with a subtle soapy undertone.
    • Taste
In the mouth you will find some sweet flavors like tangerines and cane sugar, but always accompanied by sour citrus notes and a slight bitterness of grapefruit.
    • Finish
A long, very fruity-fresh finish. You can clearly feel the lemon and subliminal orange. There remains a kind of coating on the tongue, which also tingles something.
