This is just amazing in my opinion, but I am a huge Balvenie fan. It's just as good as the 15 yrs old single barrels I've tasted, intense and complex with massive flavors.
(Rating interval 87-90)
Honey, vanilla and sweet lemon candy hits the nose immediately. Subtle spices appear after a while, weak hints of allspice and pepper, followed by some oak, barley and slightly marzipan with overripe pears.
Sweet honey on the arrival with icing sugar and fresh fruits. It becomes creamier on the development with hints of warm melted marshmallows, dark honey, golden delicious apples and vanilla ice cream. The spices are all about pepper now, mostly white pepper.
The finish is warm with honey coming through from the nose and palate as the main feature. The pepper from the development has become more intense, cracked white pepper and sweet barley.
