Yikes that’s an intimidating abv.
Very dark amber.
Big nose. Intense toffee apple and banoffee, yet something makes me think of the swimming pool. Maybe there’s a menthol note coming through the caramelly stuff. Certainly big.
In the mouth...well it is not as hurty as I was expecting, but then my last whiskey was 60%, so my frame of reference might be off. This seems to carry its abv better than the Scotch I just had though - this is something American Whiskies seem to be able to do. Actually it’s really nowhere near as spiky as it should be.
Big caramel but that menthol herbal note pushes through. Touch of that toffee apple. It’s a luxurious intense whiskey that carries its abv and is very drinkable without water, amazingly. Not very complex, but enjoyable. 3.675/87.5
With a small drop of water (probably not bringing it down below 60%) the aroma gets some honeycomb and peanut. Still good. Has lost some intensity but gained some interesting vibes. Taste is more rounded, similar to the flavours it had without water. But if anything it is now more spicy and less oily-intense-rich. For me it was a bit better without the water. 3.575/85
