Wow the Manzanilla of the North in a Manzanilla Pass. Very cool idea and it tastes the same.
    • Nose
Sherry, associations with a barrel warehouse, minimal sulfur, dry, salty. A very horny nose.
    • Taste
Dry and salty. Occupies the whole oral cavity. Reminds me of a port.
    • Finish
Medium long and dry. But delicious.

Sample from ovanpuyvelde. Lot's of sediment in this OP.

The pastry side can be disgusting in the long run. A (small) dram is self-sufficient, I think. Out of there, this Old Pulteney is very good, balanced, greedy; and his young age does not serve him.
I rate it 86/100, it would have been 87/100 if it had been less disgusting.
    • Nose
A young, malty nose on the sweet cereal. Honey, vanilla, fluffy frangipane. A very slight sea breeze behind this pastry. Some tingling on the nose, due to alcohol, after aeration.
    • Taste
The alcohol is particularly well balanced and not offensive. The profile here is also very pasty, on the salted frangipane (the typical marine side of Old Pulteney is fully revealed). Vanilla malt, sweet almond, pinches of salt. And some dried apricots, too.
    • Finish
Long. The sweet malt melts at first slowly in the mouth, then the salt returns as a reinforcement, accompanied by vanilla.
