I rate it 86/100, it would have been 87/100 if it had been less disgusting.
A young, malty nose on the sweet cereal. Honey, vanilla, fluffy frangipane. A very slight sea breeze behind this pastry. Some tingling on the nose, due to alcohol, after aeration.
The alcohol is particularly well balanced and not offensive. The profile here is also very pasty, on the salted frangipane (the typical marine side of Old Pulteney is fully revealed). Vanilla malt, sweet almond, pinches of salt. And some dried apricots, too.
Long. The sweet malt melts at first slowly in the mouth, then the salt returns as a reinforcement, accompanied by vanilla.
