Whisky Reviews for Talisker Young & Feisty McG

8 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 82.15 points

  1. lazycat74 scored this whisky 81 points Member Senior

Liquid, empty, weak in all components. Young and biting.

  2. Albaron scored this whisky 80 points Specialist

Comparatively mild and it lacks the depth of taste, no wonder at only 5 years and refill barrels, the Brennereicharakter comes through well, but unfortunately the notes are highlighted, which I do not like soo. Is okay and uncomplicated, but I prefer the 10th. Young smokers can make others much better.
    • Nose
some smoke, fresh grass clippings, lemon, menthol, some vanilla, slightly sour and aniseed
    • Taste
some smoke, liquorice, some pepper, toffee, vanilla, slightly bitter at the end of the tannins
    • Finish
the smoke fades quickly, then some toffee swings and the oak tannins, but very little

  3. Bosi scored this whisky 78 points Specialist

An interesting intermediate step, on the way to the finished whisky. Not more, not less.
    • Nose
Oh yes, the name is program. The Y & F smells young and spicy with traces of carnation, soap and ginger. The strong smoke is countered by strong citrus flavors.
    • Taste
The flavor of the Y & F remains spicy with chili, licorice and notes of chocolate. At the end, the whisky is unfortunately a bit metallic.
    • Finish
The finish is not too long, but sweeter than the taste. The smoke, however, stays in the mouth for a long time.

  4. rottendon scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

I really like the part, I like the young hoppers, if they are well done, they would like to have it in barrel size.
    • Nose
Scary mineral, sea water that rushes down to rocks, the citrus note is there, but quite diffuse, iodine and camphor and; Oh yes, there was something else, smoke, for me rather hot fire with a slight medical impact. Warms up a little less fresh and more mineral.
    • Taste
Nice mouthfeel, far less metal than feared, light acidity is accompanied by greasy notes, something sweet is in it, dark sweet, hardly any bitter substances, very tasty.
    • Finish
Minerally speckled, quite long, the smoke does not last long, rather an interesting mix of notes.

  5. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 77 points Connoisseur

No, that's not mine. I'm a bit too young and alcoholic.
    • Nose
Directly impetuous, quite smoky for a Talisker, peppery, the youth can not hide, a little alcoholic, malty, behind the smoke he is slightly fruity, yellow fruit, possibly apricot, he looks really quite young in the nose, the word Gerstler it goes through your head already, a little vanilla, after some getting used to the smoke has retreated strongly, after the first sip something like salted meats
    • Taste
starts creamy and sweet, malty, then comes clear smoke, alcoholic and young he comes over, I would spontaneously drink rather than Verdauer after the meal, a little vanilla
    • Finish
burns in the throat and esophagus, malt, the smoke is weaker, but is still palpable on the palate

  6. Okto-Bull did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

For the few years he likes me quite well as an appetizer for a balmy summer evening on the balcony before it goes to the barbecue.
    • Nose
Smoke with light fruits (lemon, orange); Lemon cake; reminds of the smoke at the 10er OA; very round nose
    • Taste
      initially slightly sparkling but then getting oily quite quickly; freshly ground pepper; again lemon; very fresh;
    • Finish
rather short; again pepper and smoke which stays a bit longer; again lemon; this time herbs are included; again very fresh

  7. Noface83 scored this whisky 79 points Specialist

Nose of the Y + F: very reserved with citrus, peppercorns and garden herbs, clove, sweet malt and warm smoke. Not much there but very pleasant what to smell. Once you get used to the smoke, some metallic youth comes through.
Taste: creamy, oily and peppery, fresh cereals and full smoky flavor, slightly alcoholic, very sweet with a hint of chocolate and fresh pepper that goes into the finish. It now comes with a note like when you bite into a tin can (is probably the youth). The smoke is strong and stays long. The other flavors fade quite fast.
Quite pleasant and drinkable but somehow too shallow and young to really stand out with the single malts.
    • Nose

    • Taste
      76 76
    • Finish
      76 76

  8. ASWhisky scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

a very refreshing young summer whisky with smoke
    • Nose
Salt, seawater, lemon, very fresh, young wild
      a bit metallic young
      but pleasant
      peat smoke
      you smell the youth
    • Taste
      young and fresh,
also this Young & Feisty: a morning harbor atmosphere
Seagull screaming, the air tastes of salt and seagull
      strong licorice
Apricots with hot pepper and salt
the tongue is burning ... .. becoming moist and salty
smoke gathers in the throat like a cloud
    • Finish
intense pepper and salt on the palate
      fresh youth
      Salt, sea, liquorice
      refreshing
      long for a young whisky
